Round 11: Crusaders too Strong to Hold Back
Stronghold Crusader, the winner of our XXIII-th Century Battle of the Games, is available now for only $3.99. Build the castle, conquer the heathen, repel the infidels 60% off for the next 24 hours. You can also claim the English Royal Crown in Lords of the Realm: Royal Edition for $3.59.

Today’s battle brings two indie games into the area, where we see which game you favor as they take very different approaches to providing you with the best entertainment that money can buy.

Round 12: The Whispered World vs Trine
The Whispered World is a visually stunning point-and-click adventure game with hand-painted backgrounds and traditional hand-drawn frame-by-frame animation. Sadwick, a 12-year old introspective clown, needs to go on a journey to stop the approaching end of the world. The Whispered World is a magical combination of a fairy tale, adventure game, and heart-warming story great for both kids and adults. If you enjoy funny with a dose of melancholy, vote for The Whispered World.
Trine is a physics-based action platformer with stunning visuals and great soundtrack. The game won GameSpot's E3 Editors' Choice Award for being a flawless example of how a modern platform game should work--a simple idea (three characters with unique abilities), something special (physics based puzzles and challenges), and brilliant execution (just look at the game!). Trine is not an epic journey but an incredibly entertaining action game for everyone.

I've got 3 different copies of Trine so the choice is obvious :o)
Uhm, Trine supports my language but I'm on Daedalic's side for today ;)
My vote goes to Trine because I've heard some terrible things about The Whispered World.

Plus, TWW is a free download on Gamefly (in the US), so I could play it there if I wanted.

Edit: Added US note.

Really?
That's a surprise, these games came to GOG not long ago. Already got The Whispered World, so I'm voting for Trine (I gifted this one to my nephew and he said it is great).

So far not much for me in these battles. Not that the games are bad, actually a lot of them are so good that I bought them before. And I have a long, long, long list of bought games waiting for free time to play. I have a feeling Trine will join them tomorrow. With one more week of battles I hope something from my wish list shows up.

Are you sure? Just checked and it says $29.99 which is a lot more than $14.99 on GOG (prior to tomorrow's discount), and even more than free :)
I actually can't say because I've never played The Whispered World, so that's what I voted for. Cheeky me.

Seriously though, Trine has been in indie bundles and on sale DRM-free for a whistle and a song countless times, so even though the game may be the superior one, you can still more than likely get it very cheap somewhere.
Finally, one that actually is on my wishlist... My vote goes for Trine!

It's free in the US. Not in Europe.
I couldn't hate GOG more than I do right now :)

I've been dying to get the Whispered World since it released. I played the first 20 minutes or so when I was in Europe a few months ago, and it's a beautiful game. I can see why it won Best German Game award.

Gets my vote (and my purchase tomorrow :), that's for sure.
A quick question before I get kicked for spamming the board: should I go for the original German version or the English translated version here?
Gotta go with the Finnish competitor here, even though I already have Trine on Steam.
Trine was already beaten at GOG release time (2$ on Hot-Water), so I would vote for The Whispered World. But as GOG does not release the German language version, where the development team is from Germany(!), I won’t by this, either.

It’s a shame. GOG should never have agreed to such a restriction.

Hmm I own Trine on CD but I'd love to get a digital copy, then again the Whispered word looks interesting too. I think gog will make two sales with this one. Damn they are really extracting some money from me this week.
