Cloud Saving, Achievements, and quite a few fixes.

The epic turn-based strategy/RPG series with the striking artstyle and absorbing world just got updated with various changes and improvements. Perhaps even more importantly, it's now made to feel extra cozy here on GOG Galaxy!

Both games now have GOG Galaxy support for Cloud Saving, Achievements, Stats and Leaderboards. Moreover, this update brings general fixes and improvements to both games.

Thinking of launching your own saga? Banner Saga is 75% off and Banner Saga 2 is 60% off for the duration of our Winter Sale.

Thanks for detailed explanation!
Still not happy, but I understand the reasons and I hope that this kind of policy at least encourage developers to make better choices in terms of technology in future. And - in the long run - will bring more games to Linux.

By the way - Banner Saga is really unique game. Nice it's available here.

EndlessKnight: Thank you! Always nice to have more optional feature parity with Steam. ^_^
And edging that much closer to the day when that wretched company run by automaton bots are rendered moot! Fuck that bloated walrus newell and valve as a whole!

An optional client, with optional cloud saves and optional achievements. Perhaps you are talking about other things that GOG is doing, but the features above sound fine to me, provided they stay optional. I have decided to be happy to have access to optional features that others are getting, not give up all sorts of possibilities because I am afraid of what might be. It's good to be vigilant, but I'm going to be happy for free and optional features, which is what they are at this time. To me, it's better to trust, yet be wisely on guard, than to give up all hope of trust and give up on what life has to offer.

Flexible options for the end user is precisely why I champion gog's galaxy well beyond valve's steam, with its random mandatory updates that potentionally locks you out of your games, which happend to me when I lost my Internet for five years!

Fuck valve, and fuck steam, they both need to leave this industry! I was never a fan of steam, especially when it was forced upon me with FONV and newer game titles! But that is the difference between valve's Seattle WA. origin vs CDPR's Warsaw Polish origin!

An incredibly large majority of American corporations are monopolizing cheats by default, particulary those from the western side of the United states! So its no wonder why valve is such a shitty company!

I entirely agree and while it is a global corporate thing, there certainly is a greater presence of such things in the wealthier nations. Monopolies are growing everywhere and instead of fighting it like they once did, the various governments seem to be backing them instead. For one that pays attention to the trends out there, it is a time to be highly on guard. I can definitely agree with you wanting to be careful.

Thank you for not instantly getting angry and doing your best to listen and understand another person's comments. That seems to be in short supply these days. It's nice to see other people aware of what's going on out there.

Anyways. I look forward to playing some Banner Saga, when I finally find the time to do so. I hear good things about it. :)

My pleasure, I am a bit old-school as I treat everone on-line, as I would if we were off-line, I was **partially lucky that I was not raised with the Internet, but I still recognize when those that were are still decent enough to others as well! I am really vigilant now as there is a stronger push for market dominence that too many governments are allowing nowadays!

I might just pick it up, but gog has brutalized my wallet once again as I already went beyond my budget for the month!...But $12 for the series is a great deal!

**(Sucks that I would have learned a lot that I know now, because of the Internet; it would have helped me out at a younger age!)

So I saw on Steam that Banner Saga 2 has a Survival Mode. I don't know if that's a new feature or an old feature, but does anyone know if GOG's version has it?

Indeed it does :)

Banner Saga 2, The

Changelog for Patch 2.30.120 (added 24th June 2016):

Survival Mode
A new gameplay mode that is all about staying alive through as many battles as possible! Choose six heroes from most of the 40+ Banner Saga characters, then pit them against dredge, horseborn, bandits, and varl alike. Earn Renown and an item with each victory, unlock heroes to replace those who fall in battle, and upgrade the veterans who stay alive. To play, simply click on the Survival Mode banner on the start screen of Banner Saga 2.

Survival Details:
- Choose 6 heroes from a full roster. After you begin, you can recruit more heroes with renown.
- Your progress is saved, but you can only reload a battle a limited number of times. You have 3 reloads to start with and you gain 1 more reload ever 5 battles.
- Heroes who fall in battle are dead and can be given a Viking Funeral to regain some renown and recruit new heroes.
- Heroes have no kill count requirement for promotion. If you have the renown, you can promote the hero.
- Battles have a 30 second turn timer (and 60 second deployment timer) to keep the action moving quickly.
- Battle turn order is fixed from the start, like pillage mode.
- One enemy per battle spawns with an item equipped. Kill the enemy, and gain the item!
- Every 5 battles offers the opportunity for a second wave of fighting, which opens up the possibility for additional renown and items.

Other Changes in Build 2.30.120:
- Fix issue preventing '+x Renown' banners in battle from displaying the correct renown for higher ranked enemies
- Fixed seam in baldrungr's godstone background sprites
- Fix reversed red/green coloration on DRAWING AGGRO items description
- Added 'Consequences' section on Match Resolution that displays Injuries (or Deaths, in Survival)
