Crosmando: When you run vanilla BG with a high-resolution patch, it scales the old UI correctly without stretching/upscaling, the result is that on high resolutions it's very small and the buttons and portraits are tiny.
The sweet spot for me on a 1920x1200 monitor is running the IE and Fallout games in 1280x800, I believe. Or something close to that. Fills the screen and looks higher res, but not too zoomed out.

Yep, I do the same thing (I think I started doing this because you pointed it out, actually)

Well I'm good for something!

Elmofongo: Hey I want to ask about the recruitable mages, which do you recommend as the best attacking mage, Edwin, Xan, Dynaheir, or Xzar?
avatar
Coelocanth: IMIO, it's between Edwin and Dynaheir. Depends on your party alignment.

Although I'd personally dual class Imoen to mage at level 6 and then you're good to go.
I completely forgot about Dual Classing, thanks for telling me that.

tfishell: I'd actually love to see these come to GOG, if for no other reason than because of the enormous amount of wishlist votes: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games#search=baldur&order=votes_total (But I'm assuming Beamdog & Overhaul Games are afraid of DRM-free.)

8000+ for BG:EE
5500+ for BG2:EE
I can see where this concern comes from, but frankly if someone really wants to pirate the game Steam's minimalist DRM won't stop it from hitting torrent sites. And the GOG community has proven to be a huge fan of the series. I already own it through Steam but I would definitely repurchase it (at least on sale) to get a DRM-free version.

I honestly wonder if there are any games that haven't had their DRM cracked.

There are a small handful that never were cracked. Usually because they are niche games. Or because they have incredibly strong encryption.

timppu: Depends whether your other party members are e.g. chaotic evil. :) But for me, she seems a pretty good mage-type. I guess I mainly selected her due to her compatible alignment, and she didn't demand any unwanted friends to join the party along with her.
avatar
jjsimp: Well technically, if you have Minsc...you are stuck with Dynaheir. Although, how could you not want Minsc with his pet hamster. "Go for the eyes, Boo! Go for the Eyes!"
My solution to the "Dynaheir Problem" was for her to have a little hunting accident out in the woods. It seems she wandered off from the party all by herself and then something terrible happened to her before we could help. Ah, well. Minsc soon got over his grief and never mentioned her again.

I've got to assume it's a combination of the two. If you took that "strong encryption" and put it on Call of Duty or Assassin's Creed, someone out there would start working around the clock to crack and, as history has shown, they will succeed eventually.

It's nice to see them taking their responsibility to customers of the first game seriously like this now that the legal issues are behind them.
