I'm about to do some buying, for safety sake.

Any must haves?

Of the games I don't have I am considering Master of Magic, Pirates, Total Annihilation, Outcast.

Any suggestions/stayawaytions?

Fever_Discordia: Silver looks the most interesting to me (that I don't already own - Outcast is amazing) is it any good or just a dodgy FF7 rip-off?
It is not at all like FF7, in fact it is more of an action game with light CRPG elements.

But it is not as good as Outcast, obviously.

Master of Magic & Outcast are must-haves, in my opinion. Also, Master of Orion 1-2 and if you like space sims, I-war

And ugh, I don't like these news at all. Darklands, Colonization, Pirates!, Moonbase Commander & KKND are all games that I've had my eyes on. Hopefully GOG has signed its contracts with the French main company, and not Atari US.

I am hoping for a sale, but otherwise I will have to buy some of these Atari games when next month rolls around. Going for Roller Coastyer Tycoon 3 and Outcast, along with Blood.
Good games on that list, luckily I already have the ones I want.

Here I have Master of Magic, Master of Orion, Start Control 3 (no need for 1+2 with Ur Quan Masters out there for free). Colonization, Sid Meier's Pirates! and Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 I already have on Steam. I even have Desperado's and Darklands here it seems... wow, completely forgot I even bought those... haven't even played em yet xD

Gazoinks: Don't say that, you'll make me want to buy it! :P

Lifthrasil: And you won't regret the purchase if you do.
I downloaded and played the demo for Outcast a few years ago and to be honest it kind of bored me to tears. A lot of times demos can actually hurt a game's promotion by being crap (like Slipstream for example) and I wonder if that may be the case here. I've got the $9 BDM left and I'm wondering if I missed something here.
I guess it's high time to buy Outcast.
Hmm I hope their games don't get yanked soon. I'm still missing Pirates! Gold, Moonbase Commander, Colonization (not sure if I really want this one or not), Silver, and Darklands. I'm about to drop $8 on Avernum and I can't really spend another 30 on these games, so hopefully GoG will do a sale before they get yanked, or at least give us some advanced warning if it's going to happen (they almost certainly would).
I wonder if Hasbro will buy Atari.
Well I'm picking up Outcast and the 1st three 'Alone' titles as a result of this. It means ramen noodles for the rest of the week but hey, that still taste better than orphan.

Crosmando: The sad thing is that there's still some unreleased games that Atari probably has the rights to. The entire Microprose backlog afaik is Atari property.
Not all of them, as the X-COM franchise is in the 2K's streamlining hands...

Simbabluenobi: Maybe CD Project Red could buy up all the failing game companies and move to take over the (gaming) world ... :)
The bigger publishers usually have debts in hundreds of millions USD. I'm not sure CDP has this much money.

Oh yeah, forgot that. Kinda weird how the old XCOM games are on Steam and Gamersgate (afaik without DRM) but not on GOG.

I wonder also where the rights of the previous Civilization games has fallen too.

Don't just consider Total Annihilation, grab it with both hands!

If anyone is still on the fence about TA, maybe this is the push you need. You will NOT be disappointed.
