We've just posted the answers from Aaron Conners about the Tex Murphy series and we're ready for another Q&A session. This time we're taking on a recently released series!

After years of being widely unavailable, Little Big Adventure, one of the best action-adventure series on the planet, has been re-released at GOG. The rights for LBA games went back to one of the developers, and thanks to this we're able to ask them some questions about the series. This time not one, not two, but three people involved in the process of creation of the game will answer your inquiries! Didier Chanfray, co-founder and art director at Adeline Software, Frederick Raynal, co-founder and creative director at Adeline Software and Sebastien Viannay, lead programmer, will answer all kinds of questions concerning the Little Big Adventure.

What do you do nowadays ? Did the LBAs had a strong impact on your professionnal life ?
My memory of the game is a bit hazy, so hopefully this question makes sense...

In LBA 1, in the military area not too far from Twinsen's house, there is some sort of mech. It never appears anywhere else in either of the LBA games, to my recollection. Who put that mech there, and more importantly why? I must have spent hours trying to activate it, with dreams of being able to stomp around Twinsun in my own mech, carving out a path of devastation before me. It was such a unique item, I figured it had to be important in some way.

And it has to be said, thank you for making the best games ever. Literally, my best childhood memory is randomly stumbling across a copy of Relentless in a bargain bin of games at a local computer store in my small town. This, after months of playing the demo over and over and sadly thinking I'd never be able to play the full game because it wasn't available in my town. Best day ever.
When will we play Little big adventure 3?
Before I ask my question I'd like to express my huge gratitude to the developers of LBA 1/2 for one of the most memorable, amazing, cute, and interesting adventure games I've played in my childhood and which I adore till this very day, over ten years later since I first played the first game.

My question is going to be like this: What was your inspiration for the world of LBA? How did the story evolve into what it came out to be - the four races, the plot, the locations... Were any particular books, movies, cartoons, or anything else the source of inspiration for certain story elements? Thank you in advance for your response!
Do you remember any interesting anecdotes among the team while they (you) were making both of these great games?
I'm so glad that I was able to buy this game on GOG... it is one of the first games I can remember playing from childhood!

What inspired you to go for an action orientated adventure game as opposed to non-action (like point and click)?

Were there any ideas that didn't make it into the games due to technical difficulties or time constraints (i.e. not because you didn't like them)? Could you mention one of them? Would you include them if you had the chance to redesign and re-release the games with today's latest technology?
In LBA2, was the cow humping for a four-leaf clover some form of parental bonus?

Yes, out of all the epicness of the game that is the one thing I remember most.
What was the inspiration that led to the easy control interface?
Did (or do) you plan on releasing / porting to various console systems?

If you'd have to remake "LBA" for current paltforms, what would you change? To be precise - I'm not asking about technicals, just game design. What ideas from modern action-adventures would you incorporate into this new "LBA"?
When you set out to create these amazing games, did you do it with the mindset of just creating a fun game to spend some time with or did you want to make some sort of statement with the game?

I'd love to know if the inspiration for your game came from whimsy or perhaps some sort social commentary, allusions to real life, etc.
I was wondering why did you choose the Grobos to resemble elephants and the Rabbibunnies to resemble rabbits?

the reason went beyond the visual side of the animals?

Just wanted to before my question, these were some of my favorite games when I was younger, I can only hope for a 3rd.

What game(s) were your inspiration to make Little Big Adventure? Either in the way they gave you ideas from what they did right, or gave you motivation to make LBA, from what they lacked or did wrong.
LBA is the first game that I can think of that used a combination of cartoon-like characters with more realistic and textured backgrounds. In more modern days, we see it more often with hits like Final Fantasy 7.

I have a strong feeling that the art style was not primarily driven by the technology available, but by an overarching vision of the game.

Were you ever worried that the unique art style used in LBA would backfire and that people would see the game as too childish or amateur?
