The US is pretty much never portrayed accurately in any of these games and usually it's not even a particularly positive image either.
Ok, so games are loosely based on the US. Can't they be loosely based on Paris? How about Singapore or Sidney?
Nobody's requesting accurate depictions of locations outside the US, just that game developers could get a little better at using other locations as backdrops for their games. :)
That's one of my favorite things about Hitman or Splinter Cell, for example. I get to visit all these awesome locations that aren't either New York ripoffs or small American towns with pine trees, diners and run-down gas stations everywhere. Not that there's anything wrong with either of these - but other places are equally awesome. I would love, absolutely love, to explore a small Chinese town, or get to run around in North Korea.
