I just noticed all the Battlefield games on Origin are on sale for cheap, cheap. Battlefield 2 Complete and Battlefield 2142 are only $4.99 each but I wonder if anybody plays those anymore or if the online community for them is dead. I remember playing the demo for Battlefield 2142 and enjoying it, especially that mode with the ship in the sky. I forget the name of it now. I wonder if people still play that.

I imagine Bad Company 2 is probably still reasonably popular, not sure about the Vietnam expansion to it. Those are both $4.99 each as well.

Meantime, the base Battlefield 3 game is now $9.99 but the expansion content is sale priced at $29.99 for all of it. Do people still play the base game in significant numbers or do you have to buy into the expansion content for a decent experience with it?

I'm hoping some Battlefield fans can give me some feedback on these games. Thanks.
I have the regular and deluxe 2142 on CD Rom. I'm planning to re-install soon since Desura has all those interestnig MODs now.
If they are selling 2142 I would definitely look at picking it up. Maybe not through Origin store though.

I hope people are still playing it. I think I recall now that it was called Titan mode, the one i liked in the demo.

I'm really wondering if all the BF3 DLC is a must to find populated servers or not. I don't know if a lot would still be playing the base game content or all moved on.

All the DLC in these mp shooters kind of sucks in how it can fragment the community. They ought to just ship a complete game to begin with. I hate the modern trend of milking customers with DLC, cash shops, etc.

My bro just told me this week that he reinstalled BF2 and was surprised by how many still play.

I played BF Vietnam a few years back and when BFBC2 came out (esp BFBC2Vietnam), player base dropped to almost nothing.

A complete game is with all its DLCs. So usually the games are now sold incomplete.
I like them. I don't like the overblown look of BF3.
I love to play BF1942 (especially Secret Weapons) and Vietnam. But mostly offline. Only pro gamers are left on online servers and they kick my butt :P

Sometimes I play BF1942 online, the free version that is avaible on Origin.

I like some forgotten gameplay mechanics in these games - like whenever you reload, you loose the rest of the bullets from the magazine, so it doesn't like like in all shooters *shoot one bullet and reload*.

For Battlefield 2142, the community isn't dead yet, but Titan mode isn't that popular if I recall correctly. Battlefield 2 still has a strong community.

Well, I think I might give BF2 Complete and BF2142 a shot for only 5 bucks each.

I am still on the fence about BF3 but mostly it is about the complete DLC edition of it where that is still costly as far as I am concerned. The base game is only 10 bucks but the complete version is 35.
I own BF1942 Complete but don't have the slightest clue where any of the disks are. But the base game is free on Origin now so I keep meaning to play it sometime but keep forgetting. It doesn't help that it doesn't play nice with my computer.

I read the re-release on Origin was updated to work with modern versions of Windows. So you may have better luck with it. Unfortunately, it is just the base game and does not include the expansion content. It is also not compatible with the original that many still play. Just the same though, people are playing it and it's fun as always.

Yeah, that's what I mean. It still doesn't play well with my computer due to my resolution, if I remember correctly. Maybe I'm not remembering correctly though.

Is it BF2142 Deluxe edition? Deluxe has some extra shit, and you can activate it on Origin, I think (you can't activate non deluxe)

It's whatever Origin has on sale. All the prices mentioned here are an Origin sale running until the 27th.

Just checked. It is Deluxe Edition. Now just $4.99! :D

I picked up Battlefield 2142 Thursday night. I couldn't resist the 4.99 for deluxe, even on Origin.

I'm currently in the process of re-installing Battlefield 2 Complete, Battlefield Bad Company 2 w/Vietnam and Spectact Kit, Battlefield 2142 Deluxe and have installed Battlefield 3 Premium. So many battles left to fight...

Glad I have a bigger harddrive on the way.
Looking forward to installing the XFX Radeon HD 7870 CORE 2GHz this weekend, an upgrade from the BFG 9800 GTX OC 2
edit:

Okay Battlefield Bad Company 2 is now re-installed. Battlefiled 2 Complete installed.

Battlefield 2142 Deluxe downloading.
