It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I'm sure there still is a small community somewhere, but I can't seem to find it on the net. Also, I can't seem to find any other info on possible fixes and stuff.

I mainly ask, because my xp is in its final dead throes, and I imagine I shall have to get a new pc soon, which will of course have an OS like 7 or 8.1

I also wonder wether the game runs on linux (with or without windows emulator)? Because I'd very much like to have linux handy as a secondary OS on an external drive or so.

so, if you know a working fix for this great game (well, games actually, I own them all), please share it here.

would you please kindly consider not offering generic recomendations like compatibility mode (which, as I've heard from a friend, doesn't really help at all most of the time), unless it is confirmed that doing so makes all problems go away, or is part of a larger solution ;p?

I've no idea, but perhaps this BUMP will provide someone who does!
For Linux check these:

WINE really has come a long ways... if only M$ would stop changing their DirectX API with different versions, then full compatibility would be easier for newer games.
My Steam library is 60% linux games so I don't really care about wine.

If only developers and publishers would be assed to properly update their games.

That too... They want to protect their IP and yet don't want keep them up to date or fix issues... Honestly if they can't be bothered to keep their stuff working or updating them occasionally, they shouldn't make any money off of older titles that they've effectively dropped all support for.

An interesting thought. I guess I like it. After all, many of these games have been developed for OSes that are 10+ years old, which are years out of print and major use.
I realise there hasn't been a reply to this thread in three years but, for future players of this game, I suggest using DxWnd- https://sourceforge.net/projects/dxwnd/ . It intercepts system calls to make fullscreen programs run in a window. It's too bad nobody knew about this fantastic app back then.
Why not just dual-boot? Set up a VM?
Yes, now on windows 10 too. Google and run 'TagesSetup_x64'
