I must admit i got royally pissed at Blizzard, when i found out that Diablo3 was online only.

This is a fine example of a game developer turned greedy and unscrupulous, thinking only of their own wallet. - And at the same time sacrificing a big part of the things that made Diablo2 great.

From that day i added everything Blizzard to my 'do-not-buy' list.

Oh well, just ordered Titan Quest gold edition at ebay. This and Torchlight 2 should satisfy my arpg needs until Grim Dawn arrives.

You might want to support Grim Dawn via Kickstarter:

Paingiver: I gave up Diablo III already. Most overrated game of our time. Tired of playing stupid hack'n'slash. And Blizzard became worst than Ubisoft. First disabling LAN game in SC2. It was the vein and blood Starcraft. It was what made SC that famous.
The most overrated game ever is one that isn't even released? Good show, Blizzard. Good show.

Everyone knows the most overrated game of all time is Deus Ex, though.

Please elaborate.

Absence of lan play, offline play. A very essential part of the game, Imho.
Not the same gritty atmosphere as in D2. What i have seen of it, D3 is More cartoon-like.
The way the potion mechanics have changed.
And there is something about the 'feel'. It looks more sluggish than its predecessor.
And probably more i will never find out ;)
BOYCOTT! I join the boycott (joined yesterday)!

So you actually still have two computers somewhere that are hooked up to LAN but not to the internet?

He'd need to buy two copies of the game even if he did have the hooked up to the internet, but I know your point.

Well I do.

I have one (important) machine that is cut off from the net. The rest of them is connected.

Being online is good, as long as it is not mandatory. Mandatory online requirement (for a non-mmo game) equals shackles, chains, and bondage in my book.

You almost make it sound like a bad thing. Almost.

Fair enough. Though unlike the first one, Diablo II didn't have a spawn installation. I guess it would be up for debate how 'proper' LAN play with one copy of the game is. Anyway, moot!

How come? What's the motivation?

I'm all pro choice and functionality, but having no offline mode does simply not have any effect on my gaming experience.
Also, I went to the country to see my parents about a month ago, which was a day after I got into the beta. The internet there can be sketchy, but I was able to play with any problems whatsoever.
Yep. As a fan of Diablo I & II, I was looking forward to it. I'd decided to buy it, sight unseen, the moment I'd heard it was being made. But I don't think I'll even accept disc checks anymore. So I sure as stone will not accept always online.
I'm not necessarily boycotting the game, but given the choice recently as an early birthday gift between it and Guild Wars 2, I chose Guild Wars 2. If I want always online, I will play an mmo.
