Greetings.

I've been playing Counter Strike: Global Offensive for about a week now and I'm curious about who here play it.
Would be fun to create a group and play together just for fun now and then.

The Counter Strike series have been some of my casual games since 1.0 (I think it was.). Generally play a couple of games with bots to relax and sometimes when I have the time and feel like it I play online. Though I'm not a good player by any standards. :P
I've been thinking about getting it, I was heavy CS player back in the day, starting at around Beta 6 if I remember right. Nowadays i'll casually play CS:S with some bots once every few months. I was kinda discouraged by the map list in GO when I looked at it, i wish they had more older classics that i'm not sick of.

Yeah the small list of maps is a major complaint from gamers. One of many features they removed from previous CS games.

As an example they just added noticeable Tagging in a patch. It was truly a strange feeling playing a CS game without that.

It certainly lacks a lot of the things CS players are used to and overall feels too arcady.
But it's cheap and fun in its own way so I'd recommend it to all old CS players that's on the fence. But I wouldn't if it was more expensive. Then I'd say wait for more patches.
I play CSGO every now and then. It's a fun game, high skill requirement, but I still feel I can manage it unlike CS1.6.

The only real issue I have is that the matches are a maximum of 3 minutes long, so I can't really stand it for more than half an hour at a time because it feels like I've been playing so much longer.

I think it's part of their hidden agenda. Short matches that make you run without much caution straight for your objective because you don't have time for much else coupled with that the game actually reward you for running/strafing/spraying contrary to playing carefully and actually crouch to aim is all part of the Grand Plan.

So I agree. It makes me feel like I have played longer than I have. :P That's exactly how I feel when I try CS after a long break. :D
I have it and quite like it. I did notice the tagging last night when I was playing an Arms Race game. That was something quite new to me as I never really got into CS1.6 but did play CSS somewhat. So far I do think it is better than CSS, but I've only got a few hours gameplay in it so far.

I agree that the core gameplay is better but for one thing. Hitboxes, recoil, hit detection or something related is off. There are way too many headshots when someone spray. Even when strafing like a rabid squirrel.
On the other hand you can spray someone point blank in the back and barely register any hits.
I feel no need to complain about this. It's a major point so it WILL be fixed and I think sooner than later.

When they add (Yes I think they will patch them in.) all the things we're used to in a CS game like flashlights and many many other things I think it will take the throne from 1.6.
CS:GO is the only game I've been playing lately (full time job + 4 days/week MBA give me so little time for gaming sadly), I almost clocked 1000 hours on CS:GO since beta :p, here are 2 vids I made yesterday from matchmaking.

I think I just wait until winter sales to get this game.
