We're launching the weekend early this week as good things should last longer. You've been waiting for this promo for a while, and it's finally here!

You knew this day will finally come, and at last you can grab the great Dungeons & Dragons classics, including Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment or Neverwinter Nights, for prices so crazy you have to figure that we're Chaotic Neutral. With this deal we're also testing a totally new promo system that gives you a bigger discount the more games you buy in one order. We're starting with a 20% discount if you buy one game from the offer. Every another game from the promo that you add to the order increases your discount with another 5%, so 2 games get you 25% off, 3 games get you 30% off and so on, until you get a 60% discount on your order of the whole D&D collection. Of course if you already own some of the games from the promo they will count towards your final discount!

The promo ends on Monday, September 26 at 11:59 p.m. EDT, so there's no time to lose, and you'll never know when a similar occasion will happen again.

joshualimm: But this time, I don't feel good about it, as I only wanted 3 of the games in the pack. Sure it's still a great pack deal, but buying just 3 would not have been as good a discount.

ATimson: Didn't the old system work the same way too? You got a bigger discount on everything, or a smaller discount if you bought less than the full pack?
With the "old system", I would see an email from GoG saying "XXX 40%/50% off this weekend only", and I would get 40%/50% off.

This (last week), I see "up to 60% off this weekend only", and after I selected the games I wanted, it was only about 25-30% off (can't remember anymore, as I've already bought the entire pack).

As many people have said, a discount is still a discount. I still get the games I wanted, at a discounted price. But it was not a feel-good purchase, unlike all the previous purchases I've made with GoG.

The reason for why I do not feel good about the purchase? Well, it's the same reason as why I have a favourite colour; why I'm attracted to some people, and repelled by others; why I prefer a particular game genre over others, etc. Bottom line, that's just the way I feel. And this time, my mixed feelings almost made me walk away without a single purchase. That's my feedback on the new promo system. Just thought the GoG team might want to know.

After much umming and ahhing, I have decided to forgo this sale. I don't get my (First for this job, ha!) paycheck till friday, and I picked up the reissue's of BG, ID & P:T last year or thereabout on DVD - Not to mention that I think I have three copies of Neverwinter Nights... If the Premium Modules were included mind, I'd pick that up in a shot... Maybe if we get a similar sale for christmas I'll be less stubborn about it.
Thanks GOG, I picked up a couple of games that I wanted but hoped to buy on sale . . . =)
I would've purchased 2 games but have decided to forego this sale as it's not as large a discount as usual.

The sliding scale is good in theory and if it started at 40% instead of 20% then I reckon it would've tempted me to buy 4 or 5 games.

I've still got Might and Magic XII and Two Worlds to finish so I'll wait until a good sale comes along for people that don't like to buy the whole bundle. :-)
So guys, I need some help here. Which of these are absolutely essential? I've only played IWD so far, and really liked it, but I would prefer a story that's less generic and more detailed. So far, I've been looking and BG (both), IWD 2 and PS:T, but if I buy these, the rest wouldn't cost much more either...

The only games in the bundle that are not absolutely essential are the ones with 3D graphics. So everything except Demon Stone, Dragonshard, and Neverwinter Night.

Revya: Got the last IWD & NWN, also got Demon stone and Drangonshard just to finish the collection.

I can say this, I will Never play Demon Stones XD

The Sword of Gith belong to the Hero of NWN2 not some morron in a Drizzt fanboy game.
lol, don't worry, you could finish demon stone in a half day anyway :)

That being said I've never actually played NWN2, the platinum edition is sitting on my shelf waiting its spot in the que :) I think I'll bump it up a couple of places :)

Really? That's.. very bad news for my wallet. >.>
And what's wrong with NWN? I thought it was great because of all the mods for it.

Yes, NWN's another thing that should hurt your wallet.

There's nothing wrong with NWN. I'd have to vehemently disagree with the suggestion to skip it. The main campaign for the game isn't that stellar, no. But the second expansions (Hordes of the Underdark) is very good, as are some of the Premium Modules (Pirates of the Sword Coast and Wyvern Crown of Cormyr especially). And as noted by grviper, the sheer volume of modules (and it's not hard to find some stellar community modules fo this game) and community made content for NWN makes it a steal at practically any price.

Alright, thanks. :>
So basically, I'm best off buying.. all of them - skipping the two ones that haven't been suggested here would save me ~$2. :D

It's terrible. Skip it completely if you value happiness and fun.
as are some of the Premium Modules (Pirates of the Sword Coast and Wyvern Crown of Cormyr especially).
As I understand it, they're completely unplayable now. The DRM that controlled them has been shut down. As in it won't authorize ever. Only playable premium modules are the ones from the Kingmaker pack (included with the GOG version).

Nice, you own all games from this promo.
:)
I ended up buying the whole pack but I probably won't play all of the games. All in all, it was a nice offer but I'd have preferred if the discount had started at 30% up to 70% because 20% for a single game purchase isn't very attractive.

I played NWN to death, it's a great engine, and as previously said the campaigns just get better as you go. It's especially fun multiplayer, not many games let you play coop these days. There used to be persistent online worlds to roleplay in, some might still be around.

It's single biggest problem (IMHO) is that the great system that lets you build maps quickly is based on chunks, so after you've played so many campaigns/scenarios, things start to look a little 'same-y' after a while. Really makes you appreciate the hand-painted backgrounds from the earlier BioWare titles.
