We're launching the weekend early this week as good things should last longer. You've been waiting for this promo for a while, and it's finally here!

You knew this day will finally come, and at last you can grab the great Dungeons & Dragons classics, including Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment or Neverwinter Nights, for prices so crazy you have to figure that we're Chaotic Neutral. With this deal we're also testing a totally new promo system that gives you a bigger discount the more games you buy in one order. We're starting with a 20% discount if you buy one game from the offer. Every another game from the promo that you add to the order increases your discount with another 5%, so 2 games get you 25% off, 3 games get you 30% off and so on, until you get a 60% discount on your order of the whole D&D collection. Of course if you already own some of the games from the promo they will count towards your final discount!

The promo ends on Monday, September 26 at 11:59 p.m. EDT, so there's no time to lose, and you'll never know when a similar occasion will happen again.

MaridAudran: I can't be arsed to read 20 pages of this thread in what has to be the biggest amount of comments ever to accompany a promo sale...I can only imagine the amount of whinging going on. I wonder if GOG has a higher percentage of penny-pinchers or the desperately poor compared to other websites. In any event...
I like the graded sale, honestly. It's a better option than the regular bundle deals.

Fun fact though: It's cheaper to get all the games than all of the games minus TOEE. Adding TOEE actually REDUCES the price by a dollar.
I don't like the graded scale because I usually only buy 1 or 2 games out of a promo.

Right now I was thinking about getting ToEE and maybe NWN diamond... but it's only a 25% discount if I get them both, where before I'd probably have gotten 40% on the old system - sure it's only like $3.50 different or whatever... but I've also got a huge backlog of games to play and 25% off is just not enough to get me to buy RIGHT NOW.

Part of the problem is I already own a bunch of the games, just not on GoG - baldur's gate series, PS:T, IWD 1 and 2 are all in a box somewhere. Normally it's not so bad, you still get a decent deal even if you miss out on the best price. This system really punishes you for that.
I purchased them all and have been downloading them gradually. It will be nice to have them all on a portable hard drive so I never again have to deal with the installation disks.

Tonight I'll be downloading Icewind Dale II. I may go ahead and install it since I've never played it.

Sure, in a sense, but remember that the whole point of a promo is to get you to buy more than you normally would. I think this kind of sale is a good way to promote bulk purchases for GOG and a good way to reward buyers who want to get a lot of games (like me).

If you want to just get one game here and there then honestly GOG's everyday prices are already very cheap for doing that.

jefequeso: give me your email and I'll gift you ToEE. I'd do more, but I'm low on cash as it is :(

xrogaan: That's really kind of you, thanks.
I can handle the rest (Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale 1, Icewind Dale 2). I'll PM you the codes. You can gift me in return after you get your funds.

For those asking about mods for BG 1+2 (assuming you bought both games), I very strongly recommend this link:

http://www.usoutpost31.com/easytutu/

EasyTutu allows you to play both games using the enhanced BG 2 engine, and greatly simplifies the modding process to the point it should be foolproof for new players. None of the optional mods listed are particularly important for a first-time playthrough of either game. The widescreen mod is valuable if you want to take advantage of higher resolutions than what was common when the games were first published. There are a lot of mods available for these games, but IMHO there is something to be said for playing through the original story as written before delving too deep into what the modding community provides. Both games are pretty epic story-wise.
I sent money to Paypal on Friday but it hasn't arrived yet. I'm slowly getting agitated. :S
Good advice. However, if you're using EasyTutu, have a look at this new version: it's still in beta, but works directly on a GoG installation of the games. The original installer works too, but you have to adapt/copy some files in your GoG installation before.

Also, there's an alternative which connects the game more seamlessly (your companions will transfer their stats from BG1 to BG2, which won't happen with Tutu); that's BGT. In its new version, it also works directly on a GoG install.

Finally, for those (like me) who like to add several mods, there's a great tool called Big World Setup. It allows you to mix and match hundreds of mods without breaking compatibility, downloads them for you, installs them for you, and also works on a GoG installation. For people who don't want to mix and match, it offers four tried-and-tested selections (one focusing on balance, one focusing on harder combat, etc.), and even a "minimal" installation for those who want no mods at all. It's quite impressive, imho.
Wanted to play Deus EX Human Revolution again, but couldn't as 'Steam is having trouble connecting to the servers'. Was so bitter. Then I see this special. You saved my Sunday GOG. A-thank-kyo.
"Happy" doesn't even come close, thank you sooo much GOG.

The best just keeps on getting better!

If you get your money before monday, you'll be very lucky. But there is a chance that you'll get it Thursday or even later. Like they said: you'll need to wait 3 to 4 days for the funds to be send to your account.

Anyway, I want to openly thanks the two really nice people who gifted me the games. I really didn't expect that much and I can only say thanks or offer them a beer if I ever meet them.
