We're launching the weekend early this week as good things should last longer. You've been waiting for this promo for a while, and it's finally here!

You knew this day will finally come, and at last you can grab the great Dungeons & Dragons classics, including Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment or Neverwinter Nights, for prices so crazy you have to figure that we're Chaotic Neutral. With this deal we're also testing a totally new promo system that gives you a bigger discount the more games you buy in one order. We're starting with a 20% discount if you buy one game from the offer. Every another game from the promo that you add to the order increases your discount with another 5%, so 2 games get you 25% off, 3 games get you 30% off and so on, until you get a 60% discount on your order of the whole D&D collection. Of course if you already own some of the games from the promo they will count towards your final discount!

The promo ends on Monday, September 26 at 11:59 p.m. EDT, so there's no time to lose, and you'll never know when a similar occasion will happen again.

Zabinatrix: These are some of the best selling games ever, both on this site and in general. They don't necessarily need to do a promo on them at all. They sell really well without discount, so expecting more than this is simply not too realistic.

I would have wagered that there would be a flat 30% promo for them. So if you're interested in more than a couple of them (which I think is true for a lot of people here) this promo is a lot better than what I thought would happen. Sure, it isn't spectacular if you just want one game, but again - be realistic. Why would they discount the top selling games too much?
I agree with you - I didn't expect any more than 30% off on these titles either, and I'm not buying anything this time mostly because I'm slightly broken (I wouldn't buy anything for 30% off either). I'm just worried that GOG may use this sales model for games that are not best sellers.

We've been getting many 50% off sales on single games lately (even if buying a whole pack might have led to a bigger discount), so I don't expect to get anything that is not a best seller for less than that in the future.

Of course, if GOG just scales the discounts to a minimum of 50% off, then it might be better for everyone. We'll see.
I think it is contest time when I get paid. Every one of the RPGs needs to be played by anyone who considers themselves an RPG fan.
Ahh, thanks GOG. I really waited long for that promo. The only reason, I didn't buy the games for the full price was that I already have working copies of them. But such an offer... now I have a copy more.

By the way: I like the new promo system more than the old one, there you got only 30% instead of 50% (for instance) just because you didn't buy one of the games in the promo.

TheEnigmaticT: You know how I said that we tried really hard to tell you guys who our next big publisher is? We had to take the slides out of the deck this mornig. :(

People will jump for joy when we finally *do* announce it, though.
I really hope we won't have to wait till the next conference for this announcement.

And guys, I really hope that for Christmas you'll give us more than two (unlike last year) games compatible with WIndows 7, and a lot of fixes (missing manuals, goodies etc.). We/I really don't understand why we can't get manuals for Age of Wonders or stuff like this.

It's really kind of funny.

On Monday I added Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, Icewind Dale 1 and 2, and Planescape to my cart. I got out my wallet. Then decided "nah, I won't make time for them."

Dodged that bullet.

Well GOG, I feel for those that want just one or two of these games and can't afford it with this current scaling discounts promo. However, it works for me! All but Dragon Shard, and Demon Stone are on my wish list. So naturally I'll buy all of them. Thank You GOG for this particular D&D Games Sale. It's one I would have liked to seen and now thanks to you, have seen and taken advantage of.
:)
Good time to complete the collection. Although I doubt I'll play Dragonshard again ;)
This is the first time I bought the entire pack without any remorse or careful consideration. Just take my money, all of it.

adamzs: TOEE is a pretty decent RPG, and the Icewind Dale games are kinda a traditional RPG/hanck-and-slash combo. They are not that hard to get into, but fighting and character planning is a major part of the gameplay. Demon Stone is a simple action-packed hack-and-slash (granted pretty good at that), and the D&D game system is pretty much non-existent in it.

On another note, if you couldn't get into Baldur's Gate 1 due to the difficulty at the neginning of the game, try BG2. It's much more forgiving on new players. (Although there's some spoilers for BG1 at the beginning of BG2, if that bothers you.)

tomdelada: You, Sir, have my deepest thanks. This is almost exactly what I wanted to know. The difficulty in BG1 is almost entirely what put me off. No matter what character I chose it seemed to get slaughtered on the very first screen enemies appear. Spoilers are a non-issue since I usually check Wikis for games if I like em anyway.

I'll take what you said into consideration. I'm not totally convinced yet, so perhaps I should hit up YouTube and some review sites to see what the other games are klike before throwing money down on em.
You simply have to be wise when approaching those initial battles. For my character, the wisdom has always been to not get into them in the 1st place, and simply stick to the road to get to the initial destination. Unlike modern cRPG's, BG1 has an open ended world wherein many of the fights are optional. I find that makes for an awsome RP experience.

As for the promo, PS:T was the first game I bought here, I bought the BG series & IWD series when they were on sale back in December '10, & I managed to make backup disks of my retail NWN Platinum copy (I did it also for my retail BG copies, but simply bought'em again from GoG for joy's sake, not knowing they offer improvements from my retail copies!) & am not that interested in the Kingmaker expansion to buy it again from GoG.

Knowing it'd eventually come, I wanted to celebrate this promo wholeheartedly w/fellow GoGer's, but I don't like how I feel about the new promo system. Why should folk have to buy inferior games like Dragonshard & Demon Stone, simply to get the true classics (the Infinity Engine games & NWN) at a more proper discount? I think it's disheartening some that BG1 & BG2 are on sale for 20% off if you want to buy them without buying other games. I got them for 30% off ($6.99 each) in the great December '10 sale.

I just couldn't resist and bought them all. I will finally play planescape torment!!!!!!!!!!
Does anyone remember how pack gifting works?

If I gift the whole promo to someone who already owns some of the games, can not-redeemed titles be passed along to another person with the same code?
Well, this cleans up a nice section of my wishlist.

Well, except some, but hey, let's buy em anyway.

Now, a more crucial problem.. Time to play em -_-
My poor poor wallet :(

I can't afford to be buying all these games! I haven't even finished half the ones I already own!

*buys IWD, IWD2, and ToEE*

*guiltily slinks to class, feeling wretched*

Yes, they can.
Also, maybe you can answer this question for me: is Dragonshard *that* bad? It seems to "enjoy" some hate here.

Exactly. The first person can redeem only those which he/she doesn't have, the rest remains redeemable on the same gift code.
