After last week's Ubisoft sale you may have thought we'll give you a break from deals you cannot pass. If so, then you were wrong :) This weekend we're offering you the whole Age of Wonders trilogy with a stunning 50% discount, so you can enjoy all three parts of this award winning strategy series for only $12.97. If you already own some Age of Wonders titles on GOG, you can complete the series with a 50% discount. But if you're interested in buying only one or two parts of the series you'll still get 30% off. Promo ends on Monday, November 29 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.

I love a good burger. And I don't eat at McDonalds.

He needs to "beg, borrow & steal" for games, but his taste for burgers is almost royal! :P
These are sorta spiritual successors to Master of Magic right? I got that off GOG a month or two back and loved it (never played it back in the day), a newer game of that style would be great, the AI in MOM didn't seem to do much in my games which was a shame...

Questions:
1) Is Shadow magic the best one to get if I only get one (mostly due to lack of time to play them all)
2) Does it still play like Fantasy Civ (from what I saw it looks like a HOMM style game)
3) same style of battles as MOM? (that seemed to handle stacks much better than any civ I've played :) )
4) Does it still have overworld/underworld planes?
5) Are there still Lizardmen? :)

dudefather...

In my opinion first AOW is the best from the whole saga. But it have some, very, very difficult stages,
I am tempted by this deal. I know these are turn based. How similar are they in terms of gameplay style to X-Com?

Except that they are both turn based.. not at all.
A picture is worth a thousand words, so check out this video.

We don't have one here ^.^ Though I have to admit a weakness for McNuggets once every few years.

Interesting article by the way! Doesn't say much good about our purchasing power parity :)

Zabinatrix: I see a different problem too, and I'm sure that I'm not the only one experiencing it. I've been continually buying more games than are released each week. Most weeks there is just one release - sometimes I'll get that one, and it's very likely that I'll get at least a couple of games at each weekend promo. So I'd say that I'm averaging buying at least twice as many games as GOG are releasing, at least over the last few months (didn't buy many games before that, due to lack of money).

If I continue like this I will eventually buy the whole catalogue... And I will probably only ever play a relatively small fraction of the games. Oh well, there are worse things I could spend my money on :) And I really am a sucker for the extras we get with most games. Even if I don't have time to play all the games I buy I usually think it's worth it just for the artwork, soundtracks, et cetera.
Same here...but I'm not going to buy entire catalog - I'm interested in app. 50% of it. Buy only on promos with $10/promo keeps me with a steady rate - still I buy more games than released.. I'm not worried about not playing my gogs...I have real fun reading manuals, listening to the soundtracts etc.
I'm not saying it's not a good deal, because it is.

And yes I know that not the whole world has the "Black Friday" after thanksgiving stuff that the US has.

BUT... if you're going to run a gaming website AND you're going to appeal to large world wide markets... perhaps you should try to offer deals on certain holidays for those regions.

Certainly don't need to run a deal on every "made up" holiday as someone put it... but when you know a large market is suddenly going to be shopping for deals and that many of those people will be on the internet shopping as well. It only makes some business sense to try and appeal to that market.

I'm a little confused as to why anyone would complain about someone suggesting that we have MORE sales and CHEAPER prices though. You could only win if they had offered some "Black Friday" or "Cyber-Monday" deals... yes?

I know you've not been here for long, so you couldn't know, but there was no promo for either of these days last year (or in 2008, but that would have been too early for the site anyway). Also, they don't run regional promos (for example, only for U.S. residents); if there is a sale, it's for everyone.
Anyway, we wouldn't protest if GOG suddenly announced they'll have a Cyber Monday deal, but I don't really feel the need for it (and I'm sure many GOGers agree with me).
Oh, and although they had no BFriday/CMonday deal last year, they DID have a very large Christmas sale: almost every game (only the most recently released ones not) was sold with 25-40% off. There's no telling whether they'll do something of the like this year, but it's not unimaginable.
Can we get back to discussing burgers now? :/

Zchinque: Can we get back to discussing burgers now? :/
Sure.
Every Tuesday, clients of Vodafone Hungary get two Whopper menus for the price of one in any Burger King.
Pretty neat deal, if you ask me, this way both my brother and me can have a "fast-lunch" for one price.

Also, if you want some virtual burgers, too, check out this game. It's really fun, and absolutely worth $7 in my opinion.
