StingingVelvet: Sam and Max is very easy. The original I mean.

SimonG: But weren't most of the riddles simple "Use Max on everything and see what happens" kind of riddles. Haven't played it in ages, but that's what I recall...
You do use Max a lot. There is a lot of other stuff too though. It's a very easy game overall though, simple puzzles.

Someone said Monkey Island 2, which I disagree with. That sucker can be pretty tricky on the mega monkey mode.
I don't play many adventure games so I really don't know how it compares to others, but I would say Still Life. There is however one killer puzzle there (yes - the dreaded "cookie puzzle").

Bloodygoodgames: People either love this game or hate it, but a lot do love it.

I just bought it today as I'm interested to see what some people hate so much about the ending. Either way, it should be interesting :)
Oh, don't get me wrong, I think it's a fine game. But story is definitely its greatest weakness. It's alright at first, but about two thirds in, it very suddenly turns batshit insane and only gets worse from there.

ROTFL - I didn't even last an hour before I deleted it from my computer. Biggest piece of garbage I've bought in ages.

The controls are HORRENDOUS Couldn't get the stupid character to open doors without 15 tries, running was a nightmare and, even when I had him standing right in front of something, I'd hit the action key to get him to turn on a faucet etc. and he'd move to the side as if I hadn't stood him right in front of the thing in the first place.

Piece of junk. Wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy :)

Off to watch a Let's Play to see how the story goes but, as for playing it, er....no, not a chance in hell.

It took me a good number of tries to get into the game because of the controls. I was about 9 chapters in when I got fed up with some scene. I'll come back to it one day. But really, I think the QTE scenes were very poorly implemented. I can tell something interesting is happening on the screen, but I have to be too focused on correctly playing a "Simon Says" sequence to notice. Shenmue handled QTEs much better in my opinion, and I was hoping Fahrenheit would be the game I originally expected Shenmue to be (something like a movie that's different every time you watch it).

That's what I thought it was going to be too. I was already prepared for the terrible ending (at least, many people say it is) but nothing prepared me for those controls :)

It's a pity as the story is interesting and the voice over acting is excellent. Anyway, I'm now on the third of a Let's Play series of videos, so I'll see how it turns out without having to beat my computer to death just because I'm banging the keys so hard to get them to work, LOL.
I found Fahrenheit infinitely easier to control once I plugged in a game-pad. I'm not it's biggest fan, after it I never bought a game for full price again.

Anyway, good story not so hard puzzles... I say try Discworld Noir, if memory serves the majority of the puzzles are dialogue-based, linking the clues you learn from different characters together.

Fahrenheit has actually made me seriously think about only picking up GOG games on sale from now on, as it's the third game in as many weeks that I've bought here that's had horrible controls. Don't mind it when it's two or three dollars, but upwards of $5 and it's a waste of money.

I can suffer through awful graphics, terrible voice acting and silly stories if the game controls are good and the game is fun. But bad controls are a game breaker for me, and I soon delete any game that has them (Legend of Grimrock met the same fate last week, and I also had to delete Beyond Good and Evil as it was absolutely frying my graphics card).

Hopefully, I can pick up a couple of decent games in tomorrow's sale to make up for it :)

I really want to like Beyond Good and Evil because of the music and charming atmosphere of the game, but it was such a lazy console port. If I could save anywhere anytime I'd enjoy it more. It's one of those games I hate but I keep coming back to play it again. I remember having to do a few scenes over and over and over again. And the last boss! I think I finally figured out that if you press the wrong key it instantly attacks you and restarts the attack pattern but if you wait it gives you just enough time to hit the right keys. Then they go and reverse the controls for the last attack pattern. :\

Yes, the lack of being able to save easily drove me nuts too. I was kind of happy when it started to heat up my laptop to an alarming temperature and I had to delete it :)

I did end up watching the Let's Play all the way through on YouTube, and it's a nice game == quite stunning viually. But, yet another one that was partially spoiled by easily fixable silly things, IMO.

Mind you, I meant the disc release I imported from the UK. If you're disappointed having spent $6 on it, imagine how I feel. ;-)

LOL, sorry that happened to you, but believe me I've been there. :) After my last waste-of-$60 when I bought a game in Bangkok that turned out to be completely unplayable, I started buying bootlegs for a while as I was so sick of wasting $50 and more on games that, for whatever reason, I couldn't play.

That's where the game industry scams its customers, IMO. It's one of the few industries where you often can't return the products you buy, even if they don't work. They should never have been allowed to do that. $6 isn't a big deal, but $60 is, and being ripped off by bad games has happened to millions of us over the years.

If Beyond good & evil has a V-synch option, then enable that, that should fix the heatup issue. My last computer had no issues with the game, but I wonder what would happen if I tried to play it on this one...

And also, about Fahrenheit, using a gamepad is near mandatory. The controls & really most of the gameplay was pretty lousy, but the story was interesting enough, and I actually did not mind how insane it got towards the end. The game itself was a bit of an experiment though, and it really shows.
Full Throttle, finished during the same day I bought it almost twenty years ago. I was 13...

Broken Sword 1 was mentioned but I think 2 also qualifies. I cannot say anything about the rest of the series as I've never played them
