orcishgamer: Hold on, are you sure you should be bashing the "haters"? The griping very well may have been the reason that feature was added in the first place. After all, it wasn't there during beta, right?

I mean, it's not FUD if it was actually true, right?

Elenarie: I'm pretty sure I was getting the same thing only few days after the release when I downloaded the Starter Edition (same locked screen, characters (mine and monsters) not moving at all).

But tested it in details recently to see whether the game really pauses (during boss fights, regular mob fights, fights with elites, during dialogs, timed events).
Well, I can't say for sure, I didn't play beta or the released game. But I do recall several "first impressions" articles complaining about lack of pause (I think RPS did one), I know they got to play it, though not what version, I assume it was true at one point. You'd think this would have been more heavily promoted as a "feature" since it was a major knock on the game early on (several of the threads here locally went on ad nauseum about it, no one playing beta saw this and thought to point it out?).

Still, sometimes the "whiners" are actually the people who prompt the fix. If they are lying about it and know better, sure it's FUD, but people bitching about it months ago, it being fixed, the fix not being general knowledge, and people still whining about it isn't really FUD, it's misinformation, sure, but the purveyors have intent to inform, they're simply misinformed themselves. And the original folks weren't spreading FUD, it was true when they said it (and true for the forseeable future, presumably).

So, you may have those original people to thank for your ability to pause, or not, Blizzard probably isn't willing to say.

Yea, I remember that people were saying that you cannot pause the game. You definitely cannot pause it if you're playing a public game (even if you're alone, maybe that is what they have been crying about?). The hotfixes say nothing about a related change.

... looking through the patch notes right now...
It is no longer possible to prevent character death in a single-player game by pausing the game in one game client and then logging into the same account from a different game client
The only thing related to pausing the game (I read through all patch notes, didn't just search for keywords, so that I wouldn't miss anything).

Maybe they implemented a silent / undocumented fix during the first few days, can't say, as I got the game a few days after its release (well, the Starter edition) thanks to a key from FraterPerdurabo (thank you!). As far as I can remember, the game was pausing back then (even though I tested it several days ago in various situations, never died, and enemies were always at the same spot after resuming).

EDIT: Solo-ed the Butcher. Didn't die a single time. Can freely solo Act 1 now (talking about Inferno), but going to stop for a week or two to focus properly on my undergraduate thesis.

Downed Diablo on Inferno, game over I guess!

Don't need great gear for it, just patience really. It is possible to do the encounter without getting hit. Apparently he enrages after 30min, which is like forever. Took me 18min to kill him.

Off the top of my head I have 40k dmg 44k hp ~500 allresis.

Used this build:

Though normally I use:

I'm up to about 7 million gold now which I'll use for subsantial upgrades soon enough (still wearing so much crap that I don't even know where to start replacing). Also got a ring for which I currently have a 3mil bid but hoping to get quite a bit more.

All's good!
Grats! I completed inferno diablo a couple of weeks back just after the 1.03 patch was released.
I'm on Act 3, but I've gone to farming Act 1 daily since they released the patch for the 6x repairs. I'm gonna up my dps to at least 40-50k before moving on, don't want excessive deaths. Also farming Act 1 because I don't get deaths there, I still kill things relatively fast and I still get decent loot at times.
I sold things for a total of ~US$250 for quite a number of items sold on the RMAH, and I've used the money to buy Torchlight 2 and Endless Space without cutting into my bank account and I'm happy for it. Now it feels more like a part-time job more than anything else.

Very similar stats, although my resistance is around 180 right now. 41K DPS, 48K HP, Act 2 Inferno. I still have some crappy <60 items.

Anyways, I constantly see posts like 'this game is boring.', 'fix the gameplay', 'no endgame content', 'game is dying' or similar. You can't fix today's generation of retards with an ARPG, I guess. You'd need a WoWVille for that.
My exposure is limited at this point so I'll keep my comment short but there's this: http://gamerant.com/diablo-3-bosses-video-row-158281/
I freaking hate Fast bastards!

That's one of the many reasons for why I don't use RMAH... I like to keep entertainment and work separate. Also, I've sunk almost 200h into D3 right now, if I had actually spent that time working I'd have earned infinitely more money than a few hundred pounds from selling items. Rather use the gold to pimp my char.

Congrats! Solo or with a group?

I honestly don't get the point that the video is trying to make?

I did it myself, but izual and the guy before him (I forgot his name) I did with my friends. My friends told me that the shadow clones diablo summons despawn after a while, so I cheesed using that.
Congratulations on the Diablo kills chaps! I only tried pre-patch, and not played for a few weeks to see it after 1.03 but it was a pain of a fight back then and afaik not much changed so awesome job.
E: So, Diablo killers, what are you going to do now?

DKs: Now we can finally play the game, dude.

E: Oh, aw, yea.

I also killed Rakanoth and Izual with my brother (barb) which made them ridiculously easy.
I can probably kill Rakanoth with the gear with which I killed Diablo though. Meh, won't really play much of A4 until I get significant upgrades - too slow!

I didn't know that the shadow clones despawn but they weren't an issue for me anyway. I nuke them down in less than 10s. On my first attempt though the clone used Firebomb which killed me rather quickly.

I do think that the Diablo fight in general is... pretty shit. Long and boring. Shitty mechanics. In general I dislike at least aspects most of the bossfights.
Butcher - probably the best, like this one a lot.
Belial - two things: the area of the fist smash is way bigger than the animation. Pain in the ass. Also, Belial himself is too big, which coupled with the poor targeting system can make the encounter a pain.
Azmodan - I dislike the lava mechanic because it can be unavoidable.
Diablo - the teleporting mechanic is really poor. Really poor.

Really hope that boss mechanics will be improved upon in the expansions.

As for now, still grinding! Up to 9 million gold right now and still got some sweet stuff to sell, so will be buying larger upgrades soon!

Yup. The hitbox / targeting system is definitely an improvement over the previous game, but it also has its bad sides, like the insanely huge hitboxes some mobs have. Belial being one of them, I've died a few times on NM / H just because instead of my character walking to location X, it was attacking him.
Go read.
