Thought it would be nice to have a discussion about the gameplay, or you know, the game part of the game. If you want to talk about DRM, always-online requirements, lag or how Blizzard hasn't been the same since the last millennium, try one of the other threads please. Here's one:
http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/diablo_3_is_out/page1

Now, had a bit of a marathon today and finally made it to 60 and finished off Hell. It was a long night and I was shattered today so those two and half levels took me much longer than anticipated. I got horrendously frustrated in one of the Sin towers in A3 so had a friend drag me through those, as well as A4. Will probably go back tomorrow and finish those off solo after a trip to the AH so that I can feel all smug to myself.

Not sure what to think of my WD thus far...
Extremely, extremely squishy. There are a few cooldowns to keep yourself alive but as soon as those precious <5 seconds run out, you better leg it like fuck. Essentially, gameplay becomes a massive kitefest. I'll quote a guy from the EU D3 forums, as I think he put it perfectly:
"Kite, kite, kite, OH GOD SOMETHING COMING, *spirit walk*, kite, kite, kite, OH GOD SOMETHING COMING, *die waiting cooldown*"
Single target dps sucks real ass, which also makes it tough to focus down rares, etc (invulnerable minions, anyone?)

It was slightly demoralising doing A4 with my friend (Wizard). He has slightly better gear than me (but a much better weapon) and he was perfectly capable of handling 2 packs of rares at a time by himself in a 2 player game. Those damage mitigating cooldowns are just too damn awesome. As for the WD, if you cannot kite it, you cannot kill it (and most likely escape is nigh impossible, hello teleport, vortex, fast, etc).

Obviously my gear isn't quite up to the standard yet and I still have plenty of builds to try (some really interesting ones up on the forums), but it was still a bit of a disheartening experience after that long grind to 60. Will try again tomorrow with a fresh mindset.

Also - Legendaries. Effectively they are Unique items from D2 (many even have the same name) - which is fine. I just wish they didn't call them 'Legendary,' as that almost implies that they are good - which they aren't.

This is the one that I found - "Kill"
http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/item/kill

Yes, that really does have a lvl 55 requirement. Unless I am missing something serious, I had a better weapon at lvl 30.

Currently, blue items are the best in the game, followed by rares and the legendaries (with possible exceptions of course). It would obviously be boring if Legendaries were the best and everyone and their dog was running around with the same god damn weapon, but currently they're just a bit shit.
My brother found a Buriza as well. Meh at best.
(EDIT: Case in point http://i49.tinypic.com/rr7920.jpg )
Oh and the AH is full of Legendaries so if you have some spare cash, grab yourself one.
Also, the level 60 sets are seriously underwhelming. Griswold's v2, so to say.

Thoughts?

I'm playing as a wizard on normal difficulty right now and I find this game hard. Most of the spells I have are useless for me so far. I'm guessing, I'm not doing something right. If someone here knows how to kick butt as a wizard, please share with me.

Did you try lightning bolt-lightning bolt-kill-kill-kill, in that order? I hear it works wonders against trolls. Dunno about hellspawn though, but I would expect it to be similar. ;)
I just want to spread the word so others don't feel effed like I did.

If you play barbarian, you need a ton of resistances in Inferno. Basicly at the very minimun you need 600 resistances in act2, preferably 900+. Act1 is somewhat doable with zero resistances (epic packs probably not), but it's waaaay easier with more resistances. So start saving those items in hell-difficulty. Also, you pretty much HAVE to use a shield, sorry, but there's no pure damage end game barbarians in this game.

On which act you ^^ are playing? Which level are you?
I'm on act 2, with a level 22 wizard and I'm having a blast experimenting all these skills. So much that when I learn a new one, I usually keep using it until I learn another one.
low rated
I heard the DRM in Diablo 3 is pretty bad.

PS
I'm level 17.

Have a look here:

You will find plenty of people linking their builds :)
5 minutes reading can save you hours of frustration.

Also, I realised what I need to do to fix my dps, so will try something new tomorrow!

I'm guessing no one told you that your spell damage is dependent on your weapon and weapon speed. Basicly you want the "damage" -stat you see in your inventory to be as big as possible, no matter what type of weapon(s) you wield or what spells you cast. This is true for every class btw.

For some reason the hyperlink cuts off the final '/' and for some reason that leads to 404.
Try adding

edit: and yeah as peke said it:
Basically just pick all your gear with INT and or VIT. I take pieces with the highest aggregate score from the two values, as VIT becomes more and more important in the later game. Obviously you cannot sacrifice killing efficiency though, hence the INT as well.
Then get a weapon (either 2h or 1h + wizard OH) with the highest DPS value. The base weapon damage is multiplied by your INT, resulting in the "Damage" value that you can see under your stats.

It's much more straight-forward than D2!

EDIT: Turn on elective mode. Options -> Gameplay -> Check Elective Mode. This will allow you to put any spell in any slot.
Here's how I play\would play a wizard
If it's long range then I get long distance damage dealing spells like frost ray and only one CC\escape spell (most likely). No need for those armor spells other than diamond skin(IMO).
If your going for a close range(which is how I play) go for a bunch of CC\escapes and certainly take the diamond skin spell. You may also go with armor.
Here is my build:

Seems like they're nerfing a lot of the mitigation cooldowns. I haven't had time to play for a few days so I'm still on Nightmare act 3, but I read about the smoke screen nerf for DH today and I guess it'll make me change my playstyle a bit. Something about the wizard armour/mitigation spell being nerfed too, capped to 100% of hp because they were invulnerable on inferno or something along those lines.

They were overpowered though so it makes sense, on the demon hunter I could just stand in even bosses guaranteed one shot abilities, chain pop cooldowns and just stand there shooting them until I run out of discipline.

Yeah the 'nerfs' (I'd call them fixes) went through as hotfixes earlier today, so this was the state that I was playing in.
I guess I'll deck myself out in some gear first before jumping to conclusions, but to me, WD seems incredibly squishy right now.
On the other hand, a friend of mine with a lvl 60 barb is currently rerolling because he says he gets 3shot by white mobs in Inferno. Apparently you're supposed to play barb like #4 pointed out.

We'll see - the game's been out for 10 days only!
