I found an old thread here that lead me to another and finally to the link below:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AlBxsqzJbT1FdFhyX0dsQXpFUnBtSFJUM1o3ZEc3ckE&hl=en_GB#gid=0

where I found printable DVD covers for all of my GREAT GOG GAMES. And while there were others that contributed, and I THANK EVERY ONE OF THEM TOO, I wanted to send a special THANK YOU to STUFF and THIEV for all of their hard work on continuing and maintaining this project.

I recently ordered and recieved over 100 DVD cases, covers, and blank DVD's as I intend to make these GREAT OLD GAMES (Meh, I prefer that one myself) into GREAT LOOKING DVD's that one would be proud to display.

And I have to say, I did my first one last night (Fallout), took it and showed it to family members, and they ALL wanted to know how I did it and to learn more. I am proud of my GOG games shelf everytime I pull the screen up and look at it.

I will now be proud to DISPLAY my GREAT OLD GAMES collection, in a beautiful and tasteful way, THANKS IN LARGE PART to THIEV and STUFF.

I offered to gift STUFF a game, and s/he politely refused. The offer stands for Thiev as well, although as an employee of GOG it wouldn't surprise me if she also refused. So, I made this thread instead.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

Actually, I can't say it enough. Thank you THIEV and STUFF.

It is greatly appreciated.

ADDED IN EDIT: I guess I should explain why I'm so thankful. It's because I'm about as artistic as a rock. And using a computer I'm about as gifted at making computer art given all the aids in the world as a rock, using a computer.

Yet my dumb ass did Fallout last night and it looks like a pro did it.

Now, don't get me wrong, the DVD inside is not great, and all I could figure out how to do using Lightscribe was print the name of the Title. And THAT took me FIVE tries. The DVD covers only took me two. The first one I printed didn't quite fit into the borders right, I adjusted the margins a little, and the second and third ones printed PERFECTLY and look BEAUTIFUL. There simply aren't words available to describe how amazing that is for this moron to be able to do that. Like I said, I can't thank you enough.

Wow this is impressive! Thanks for drawing my attention to it, might use it one day. I used to print out some covers myself, but not recently as I ran out of space for putting dvd-boxes. :)
Those look pretty cool. I normally don't care about covers or having games on my shelves, but I was still tempted to try those out. I don't have a printer hooked up to this computer though
Please provide a pic of your shelf once it's done, I've been thinking of the same thing, actually.
Great discovery of the covers and just another reason to like/appreciate this site. I think the best way to offer your thanks of this is to continue to do business (spend money on games) here. What kodeen said about the picture and either here or on their Facebook page for all to see. Awesome covers on that link and to do this kind of project does show dedication to this site/dd service.

I don't mind doing that, but please understand it will be months. I am planning on trying to do 1 per day. Because I'm not so good at it, and because I STILL do NOT understand Lightscribe very well, it takes quite a while to do one. So, I've committed myself to doing 1 per day and hopefully not get burnt out that way. And my GOG games has over 24 shelves (each shelf has 5 games IIRC) so as you can see, it will be a months long project.

Doing Fallout 2 right now. I simply could not believe how good 1 looked. And neither could those I showed. They actually thought it was a purchased product, even with the inside DVD only having the title FALLOUT printed on it. LOL (that's ALL I could figure out how to do). I would soo love to learn how to add some background image on the lightscribe DVD thing, but I've tried several times now and just can't get it to show up. Plus, I don't know where I would get a good background image for each game.

Perfectly reasonable. As far as Lightscribe, I use HP's default software and it works fine. Somewhat limited in functionality, but very simple. Try that out. Also, for images I prefer to use a GOG extra (wallpaper or soundtrack cover image), and if those don't work well, I'll either get a picture of the original cover or of the original disc itself off of Mobygames and use that.
Those will look great on a shelf, especially with those uniform bookends.

Oh, also, I should mention that Fallout 1 looked so awesome that I wanted to take a pic of that and share it, but my old laptop is now officially dead (I can't get it to do anything) and my new one that I just got last week is on it's way back because it wasn't right. And I don't have any digital cameras. Well, no cameras at all, LOL. So, no pic of Fallout.

Still can't believe how good that turned out.
Very nice!

I found some free software on these intertooz and was finally able to make my webcam take snapshots.

So, I grabbed a handful and took a couple pics just to give you an idea of how it's going.

As I said before, it will take awhile because I only do one per day. And the funny thing??? It actually takes longer for Lightscribe to write the labels on the disk than it does to print out the covers and burn the DVD's. Seems strange to me.

Anyway, if I did this right, first pic just shows the handful I grabbed from the side view, then the second one just shows a few from the front, and the third one shows what the DVD looks like on the inside.

I am very pleased with how this turned out, and I just can't thank ALL OF THOSE THAT HAVE CONTRIBUTED enough.

Thank you verry, very, much.

EDIT: Why do I only see ONE attachment when I attached THREE and the Post My Message screen clearly shows all three attached??? Do I have to do a separate post for each??? I'll try that.

Separate attachment.
Separate Attachment

EDIT2: Ugh, sorry for the poor quality. That was ME, not the camera. I don't know how to hold them right without getting awful lighting and reflections and stuff. Sorry.

Nice collection. :) You need a better camera though ...

Regarding the attachments: That's a known bug of the forum. When you write a new post, the forum will "forget" all attachments except the first one. You have to edit a post if you want it to have more than one attachment (the error appears only when you first write the post, not after editing an existing one).

Been told that lots of times.
Michael Moore would have access to a better camera though. ;)
