The buzz around GOG's closure and re-opening has slowly faded away and we wanted to sum up the beta stage with a special gift for all those who have been with us during that period. Two years ago we began our revival of all-time PC-gaming classics for all you fans of good old games. Through ups and downs we’ve received a lot of support from the best community we could ever imagine (that’s you!) and we want to thank everyone who’s been with us through our beta stage with a special gift.

Any user who created an account before we closed down the site and moved out of beta (that's September 20, 2010) will receive Jagged Alliance: Deadly Games for free! We'll be adding the game automatically to your accounts during the next days, so don't worry if the game is not yet there.

Of course, we're not forgetting about all those users who joined the GOG family in the last few weeks. Together with Strategy First we're launching a special promotion to offer their GOG catalogue at a 50% discount.

If you've been a part of GOG beta and you already bought Jagged Alliance: Deadly Games, please click here, as we have an alternative gift for you.

Thanks for being with us!
I'd kind of like to be able to hide it... the ESRB logo is fuglying up my shelf.

Crassmaster: Don't count on it. When BF was told on their forums that Strategy First had put CM:BO here, they were quite quick to point out that they would not be offering any sort of help with it, and weren't that impressed.

Besides, they still sell the CM series for $25 apiece from their own web store. And both CMBB and CMAK have issues with Vista and DirectX10 graphics cards. The Battlefront versions have been fixed, otherwise they charge a few bucks for the fix patch.

taczillabr: Oh yeah, man I've even forgotten that this was somewhat discussed before.

Even then I'm pretty sure I'm not paying $25 each. $9.99 on GOG is a damn fine money for them already, when you sum up the series... when an user purchases all in one order, that's easily $40+.

Besides the publishers' soap opera: I still do want the Battlefront.com catalogue on GOG, DRM-free and patched up for Win7 already. I hope other users do want them as well.

And well, if they don't want our money... it'sjust like that stupid dispute about Operation Flashpoint. I'd love to have OFP back here, to more people be able appreciate it.
BF is a strange group. They're spending most of their time really pushing their Combat Mission 2 engine, to the point that they denigrate the original series constantly on their own forums. Curious to see how Combat Mission Normandy turns out, but they've dived a little too deeply in to the expansion plan waters, in my opinion. I suspect that the price point of the original trilogy is in part to make them a little less attractive to buyers.

Definitely agree that the BF catalog would look great here, though. CM series, Strategic Command 2 games, TacOps series, etc.

Thank you for the free game. I was kind of shocked when I seen in it my game list today tho. Never played Jag before so this could be fun!
Thanks for the offer but definitely not my type of game.
Thanks so much for doing this GoG.com! Indeed it is a nice surprise.

I'm doing my best not to be terribly impatient, but it seems at least some people have gotten their game already. I got my e-mail 5 days ago and I still don't have the game in my library. Am I the only one missing out, or is this some sort of gradual roll out and I just got the short straw?

I should point out that I'm a "A jedi who joined GOG.com 765 days ago" and the e-mail link to the alternate gift gives me this message "You're not eligible to choose a free games because you've not purchased Jagged Alliance: Deadly Games before our giveaway. Don't worry - you will get it for free! :)". So it looks like the system knows I'm eligible, just curious how long I should keep impatiently checking for it.

lilsypha: Now every time I look at my games list, I have to see this game I did not purchase, and that rubs me the wrong way.

TJF588: Perhaps a new feature of hiding games? It's not /quite/ the same as in a client, since we don't run the games from GOG.com directly, but I could see merit in shuffling a purchase/gift off into a shoebox in the corner of your digi-bookcase (I know, you use the list instead, but I think this issue is more impactful for those like-minded who use the more visual interface).
That would be one way -- another would be to allow me to give it to someone else. I understand only those of us that joined up in the beta phase got it. I'd be happy to give my copy to someone who wasn't in the beta phase and wanted the game.
Thanks GOG.com - it was really nice of you guys. Much appreciated :)

We're still awarding games to eligible users, so don't worry, you'll get yours soon!
Thanks for the free game and for all the great games at great prices, you guys(& gals?) have brought me so many hours of fun.
Best wishes to all at GOG

Any chance of you working with bethesda to let you sell Daggerfall?
I know its a freeware game now but i have no intrest in fighting with DosBox to get it running, i'd pay if you have it running with the preset up DB like you do so many other dos games.
I figured it be worth mentioning since i'd expect it to sell well.

I almost forgot Congrats on the relauch of the site & free publicity!
Thank you Gog!
Wow. Thank you. Now that's what I call a good service ;). Seriously though, very noble gesture. You didn't have to do this but you did without any hidden agenda. Thanks to you maybe lurkers like myself will finally start buying sth here. For now I've only been wishing you for the best as fellow Pole but haven't contributed to your site. Pozdrowienia z Torunia.
