This thread has inspired me. I'm going to see if I can get through 4 games, since I've been kind of in limbo for the month of January, not being able to decide what to play, so ending up playing nothing. I don't know what I'll end up with as my 4 games - have to just wing it - but I think I'll start with To The Moon and go from there.
I'm trying to complete Demon's Souls and Crysis 2 and I think they will take me the entire month to complete. Especially DS is so freaking hard that it will probably take me 100 hours to complete it but it's a really good game so I don't mind.
I started Sacred Gold last night, trying out the various characters. I'll pick one tonight and get going.

I'd also like to play and beat Sanitarium, Freedom Force, and Dungeon Keeper 2.

Should be enough of a genre variety to actually tackle it.

I like this idea.
started riddick yesterday (wonder if that counts for 2 as it are 2 games in one)
also got divinity 2 waiting but i'm currently addicted to planetside2 so we'll have to see what will actually be completed

also, i think we (most people) can agree that the cod singleplayers do not count as one as they last about 15 minutes (ok not this bad but you get the point)
"...End the shame"?... I understood this is about clearing one's backlog, but still, shame? Anyway, interesting idea. Think I'm gonna tackle this, and it shouldn't be a problem considering I finished 11 in January (FTL more than once) (source: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/games_finished_in_2013/post34)

Ones I already own and planned on playing anyway (this month), include
-Lucius
-The Last Express
-Closure
-Mass Effect 3.

My Scribblenauts Unlimited also unlocks this month, so I'll definitely play that one too. So, maybe it's "Five for February" for me? If not more. We'll see.

makr3la: I'm totally in!

/e: I'll pick my 4 later ;)

/e2: My current "to-beat-list" is right below, I will pick something from these:

1. Broken Sword: Director's Cut
2. Dragonsphere
3. Second Sight
4. Neverwinter Nights 2
5. Snuggle Truck
6. Hammerfight
7. Cave Story+
8. La Mulana
If I may give advice as to which ones you should choose, I would stay clear of these:
-NWN 2 (might be too long to finish in just one month)
-Snuggle Truck (first of all, it's really hard if you plan to get all medals...and once you do there are other levels you can purchase (for free) from the shop, and they are near impossible to even finish. When you've actually beaten the game, is debatable)
-La Mulana (haven't played, but I've understood it's really difficult, and a little vague about what you should do at certain points)

No opinion of Dragonsphere because I know nothing of it. Also, I've only played Cave Story+ a little so not comment on that one either.

Second Sight and Broken Sword are very good choices, I think you should include these if you're planning on completing the challenge. They're not too hard, and not too long either. Plus they're good games too (especially the latter).

Thank you for an advice, much appreciate it! But now I have hard exams at my studies, so I'll start with about one week delay :(
I definitely will pick recommended by you games first!

As for Snuggle Truck I'll have to check it out first. I can consider it as beaten when I finish all "basic" levels with bronze or silver maybe?
I don't know, if this game won't be fun - I don't want to "fight" with it :) If it will be addictive like Super Meat Boy then probably I'll have to perfect every level!

/e: Also Dragonsphere had really great intro movie! Maybe the game will be great too? ;)

HeDanny: Warp
The Baconing
Snoopy Flying Ace (have no DLC for this one yet, so probably skip it til I do)
Shadow Complex
Realms of Ancient War
Puzzle Quest 2
Puzzle Quest (plus DLC)
Mark of the Ninja
Lara Croft and the Guardians of Light (plus most DLC, I think?)
Islands of Wakfu
Iron Brigade
Ilomilo (this one will be "cheating" as I've already played some)
Dust: An Elysian Tail
Deadlight
Crimson ALliance
Might and Magic: Clash of Heroes
Burnout Crash (this is a party game right? So probably no good)
Beyond Good and Evil HD (would Possibly be cheating. I've not played this HD version, but played it several times on other formats)
Alan Wake's American Nightmare
All Zombies Must Die

Feel free to throw suggestions for which four.
Not familiar with a lot of these, but of the ones I know I would suggest:
-Shadow Complex: The best Live Arcade game I've ever played. You should play this immediately even if there was no February challenge. Looks beautiful, has that addicting Metroidvania-style gameplay and it's the perfect length.
-Puzzle Quest: a bit on the lengthy side, but with gameplay so addictive you might want to play this one all the way through nevertheless. Of course, depends totally on how much time for gaming you have per day.
-Lara Croft atGoL: fun game, especially with a friend, and not too long. A solid choice.
-Deadlight: the game itself isn't really anything special IMO: I don't mean it's bad, just OK (a 7 or an 8 maybe). However, it looks good and doesn't take too long to beat.
-AW American Nightmare: If you liked Alan Wake, then this one's more of the same. This one's not too long either.

Choose between Alan and Puzzle Quest, depending on how much time you're willing to put into gaming this month. Then you have your four that are definitely doable by anyone.

Can you give me more suggestions about this games, please?

- Earthworm Jim 1 + 2 (If those are short that would be great!)
- The Last Express (Started playing, but never actually finished)
- Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee (Just like The Last Express)
- Zork: Grand Inquisitor (I never played any of Zork series...)
- Aquaria
- Blocks That Matter
- Dungeons of Dredmor

/e: Shorter = Better for me, since February is not that long ;)

I'm glad you appreciate my input, but unfortunately I can't give any really solid advice about any of these: the reason being that I haven't finished (or in some cases, played) any of them. I own the Oddworld games on Steam, but during the Oddysee playthrough encountered a bug which corrupted all my saves, and I didn't want to start over from scratch. Maybe that's one thing that could be taken into consideration; that this type of scenario is possible? Before the bug occurred I did like the game however, so if you can trust the version of the game you have won't corrupt your saves unexpectedly, it's a game that could be considered.

The Last Express is one game I plan on playing this month myself too, if you looked at my list, so I might be able to comment on it later, although I was planning on going through Lucius first. If The Last Express isn't a game you'd want to play first, and instead save it for later, I could be able to share my thoughts of it later. Then you can decide whether or not it's a game you could finish too in the given time. However, currently I can give you no useful advice about this game, since the only things I know about it, are the facts that are written on the gamecard provided by GOG.

That's it unfortunately; at this point I can give no further help about the games you listed for the above-mentioned reason.

Short but challenging. If you are good at 2d platformers, you'll be able to beat these in less than 2h each, if you are not good at them, well, they might take some time.

makr3la: - The Last Express (Started playing, but never actually finished)
Not super-lengthy, but this is a game that you don't want to rush through.

avatar
makr3la: - Aquaria
Surprisingly lengthy. Steam says that I spent 15h in this game, but that includes on short false start. Still, don't expect to beat this one in an evening.

avatar
makr3la: - Dungeons of Dredmor
This is a game that you don't "really" beat. Sure, you can kill Dredmor, but the main draw of the game is to see how far you can get with any given skill build, with perma-death on.

Sogi-Ya: I think grimrock will be too much, replacing it with vanquish.
Grimrock is not a super lengthy game though. I spent more time with Torchlight 2 before seeing the credits than with Grimrock.

Thanks :) I didn't see your list before!

I will wait for your opinion about The Last Express and I hold with Oddworld for now (have Steam version, too) :)

Thank you. I'm actually good with platformers, so 2h is very tempty (even one evening is super cool) :D

I played Legend of Grimrock much longer than Torchlight 2! But I just loved that game and I tried to find every secret in it :P

Well, if a miracle happens and I manage to finish four games in February, I will try to remember to report back here. For now, I don't think I will commit to any games in particular although I would like to finish Jade Empire and Judge Dredd at the least. I'm not sure what I want to play next after that. I am feeling a strong temptation to play an MMO again. Oh, oh...

makr3la: - Blocks That Matter
IIRC, there should be about 40 regular levels, plus some bonus levels and the free Chocolate expansion update, so it's of average length, not terribly long but not short either. It also depends on how quick you are to solve the puzzles, of course, and whether you want to unlock all the bonus stuff or just play through the campaign, disregarding perfect achievements. I think you can play through the first two thirds or so pretty quickly (3-4 hours maybe?), but it gets a little more tricky later on. Still, it's probably manageable as part of the challenge, even though I'm not sure it will be fun to hurry yourself through it and play all the levels in a row.

EDIT: Check out HowLongToBeat.

Thanks for your input mate. I will take it on board when it comes time to decide what to play next.

I have already started Mark of the Ninja as it was the only one from the list which popped out at me once I was on the couch. I'm a pretty huge Stealth game nutter.

Are you guys Referring to this? Cos that looks .. great! Has it been in bundles or anything? I'll seriously have to keep an eye on that one and try pick it up some time.

Kinda sorta reminds me of Undergarden, which I also need to pick up at some time, too. Especially now I've just realised it is ATARI.
I got aquaria is a hib ...
