Well i've gotten back to where i was, only this time doing considerably better. Luck's at like 34, learning from almost all tomes i come across, crossed the bridges but avoided the docks that apparently is the last stage of the game...

Don't feel quite a burned out right now, so we'll see if i can finish this.

rtcvb32: Yeah, i really wish i could offload some of the weight to the creatures though.... Otherwise the character just turns into a packrat and after-battle healer... and you don't want to get too overloaded on the other classes since you won't have as many fighting creatures at your side...
I never had trouble with being overloaded that I can recall, even as a Shaper. What are you carrying around?

I had my shaper using Battle Magic and healing during combat, if I remember correctly.

Oh he carries some living tools... and then picks up half a dozen iron breast plates, and iron and steel swords, and then probably robes...

edit: Perhaps a bigger problem is i've exhausted all the shops i can think of...

Just finished the first game, although i didn't ally myself with any faction.

The ending is a little disappointing regardless if you destroy it or not. Of course i used it...

I'll see if there's a saved result of all variant endings of the game to review how it could change depending on living/dying factions and the like.

edit: Went through the other ending where you smash the forge but don't use it. Although better, it's still unsatisfying.

My favorite ending involves allying with Trajkov. It's not "cannon" and I'm pretty sure Trajkov is never directly mentioned in any of the subsequent games, but I found it pretty dramatic & satisfying.

Iirc, unfortunately takers kill the obeyers in the end even if you slaughter each and everyone of them before leaving island. :-/ I did just that (hunted down every last one of them) but was bit disapointed about that part. Otherwise the ending was the most satisfying, iirc. Curiously iirc, Trajkov becomes benevolent overlord instead of bat-shit crazy as everyone else that uses GF (including you).
