The AI is really showing was AI actually really *should* be called. AS. Artifical stupidity!

I've just had a UP vote come up saying:-

"The Dregin are accused of exploiting nearby races. This vote is to determine if they should pay 7% of their income to all the other races".

Now the Dregin voted "No". As expected.
But ALL the other three AS races voted "No" as well! Despite voting "No" most definately NOT even slightly, not one bit, being in their interests.
So despite me voting "Yes" the "No"'s had it.

At least the past dozen of these UP votes have all seen the other races vote in ways that are have the worst outcomes for them, and for me as well - otherwise I'd not complain - they can wallow in the shit of their own decisions but not if it drags my empire in as well!!!!! :D

So are they deliberately programmed to make such wrong decisions?

Yes and no. The AI doesn't actually know what it is voting for. It can't read the proposal. Literally. All the AI gets is a number, which suggests how it should vote, based on certain criteria.

For example, the number assigned to the proposal you had is 5. Which means "vote for your enemy, or a random person". This doesn't actually make sense in this case, because it's a yes/no question. A 2 would make more sense, because that means "vote for the higher number, if you are losing the game". The choices of the proposal can get assigned values. In your example, Yes has a value of 7, and No a value of 0. With the voting value changed to 2, the AI would then vote for Yes, if it thinks it is losing the game.

Well, this issue was actually overlooked when the CU got made. I also missed it before, but now I can fix it in my mod. So, thank you for bringing this to my attention!

Edit: fixed a typo.

Well, Gaunathor just took the wind out of the theory I was going to throw out there, which is that the AI was taking at least some account of how that vote might affect diplomatic relations (Drengin might become more irritated with anyone who votes to lower the Drengin income).

Yes, it would have been nice, if that were the case. But, sadly, it's not. :-(
Well, to me it seems, that the UP members allways decide against you, no matter if that`s good for them or bad.
Too bad, that one can`t get out of it without being punished.

Spend the resources to buy enough influence from the AI, and it won't matter how they feel about any given proposal.
