I'm having trouble getting the subtitles to show up. I believe I followed your steps, but they still don't show up. Does anything in the RESOURCE.cfg file need to be changed?

You need to change one line in the RESOURCE.CFG. Change language to "language = 351"

But you may just want to uninstall the sub patch, install this:
http://www.sierrahelp.com/Patches-Updates/GOGUpdates.html
Then reinstall the subpatch.
That new page will do all the GOG related fixes for you then you should be able to install subpatch with no problems.
BTW, you if want to thank Collector and have a few extra bucks, go ahead and click the donate button at the bottom of that page. For one, he deserves it for all this work. For another, GOG might mess up a few other installations and the best way for him to make GOG patches is to have the games.

Thanks, deleted the folder and did a clean install (GOG first than subtitle patch) but still won't work :(
Do I use a specific .exe file to run it?
No interleave seems to work though.

When you install the subpatch, are you pointing it at the GOG installation directory?
Unless you changed it, the game will be located at:
32-Bit Windows: C:\Program Files\GOG.com\Gabriel Knight 2\
64-Bit Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Gabriel Knight 2\
If you are doing this by browsing there, make sure to remove the \GK2 that it adds.

Oh that was the problem, it was the \GK2 that they added!
Thank you very much!
I downloaded game, installed it, added GOG patch and subtitle patch. Subtitles work in game without problem. But there is one thing...
Are there subtitles in cutscenes? There was few lines of dialogue in introduction movie but no subtitles. Or were they speaking german, which is not subtitled?
I subtitled every movie in the game, but I can't remember if there are a few German lines in the intro I skipped... play a bit more and see if there are subtitles in later movie sequences.
Did anyone play the game using my subtitles yet?
And what do you think?
I wrote all of this ages ago and I haven't gotten any feedback, pretty much. I would love to hear some feedback on my subtitles.

In the past couple of weeks it has been downloaded over 50 times.
Well, of course I used the Subtitle patch, since english isn't my first language :)
Had a bit of trouble first time installing, but went through smoothly the second time I tried.
Haven't noticed anything wrong with it yet - works like a charm for me.

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated!
And Collector, thanks a lot for those statistics!
Maybe we should start a project to subtitle Phantasmagoria as well? They use the same system, both games.
I can't do another full game all by myself, Gabriel Knight 2 kind of burned me out (it's a LOT of work, much more so than you'd imagine)... but as a community effort, it could probably be done. And I would of course participate.
About Phantasmagoria - I played demo lately, and the subtitles seem to be there already in (implemented in resources, you can see them using SCI viewer), but they just do not want to show in game. But I have not been "working" on that, just checked.
About GK 2 subtitles - I am making Polish subtitles, I played a small part of the game (beginning of Chapter One), and I reported "subtitles are not displayed in one moment - when Gabriel reads note from Frau Huber in first location of the game. " on SHP. I also tried to reach you via You Tube, but since you do not know me, you did not answer. Yesterday I found some missing line in English subtitles patch, but I must check it ingame - beginning of Chapter Five.
Anyway - great work! If there was no subtitles patch, i would not start the translation.

There aren't any subtitles for any of the movies in the resource files, though.
I'm sorry if I didn't respond on Youtube, I haven't been reading a lot of my messages lately... been a lot of stress going on.

OK, is this the right way? (It works, but I don't know it's correct):
1. Install GK2 with GOG installer
2. Install the "GK2Subtitles.exe"-Patch in TEMP-directory
3. Copy the folder "SUBPATCH" from TEMP to the "Gabriel Knight 2" directory
4. Change "patchDir = .\PATCHES" to "patchDir = .\SUBPATCHES" in the "RESOURCE.CFG" file
Thanks.
