EDIT: Different method found.
In your Program Files/GOG.com/Gabriel Knight 2 folder copy all the files from intrlc into PATCHES. This removes the scanline effect in the videos and makes them look less ragged around the edges. They were interlaced in the original release to lower the minimum spec, but there's no need for such things nowadays. I'm surprised it wasn't done out of the box.

Uh oh - this patch worked for me on the old CD version but it doesn't seem to work at all on the GOG version! Anyone else experiencing this?
Where did you unzip it to?
I unzipped to the game directory and overwrote the existing files with the same names. I just tried rebooting but still no joy - interlacing.
Could you post the contents of your RESOURCE.CFG?
Sure, here it is:
videoDrv = VESA.DRV
soundDrv = MIDNONE.DRV
audioDrv = DACBLAST.DRV
joyDrv = NO
directory = \sierra\gk2dos
cmd = GK2DOS
mouseDrv = NONE
memoryDrv = NONE
minMemory = 1600k
brightness = 0
language = 1
minCPU = 486
cd = YES
smartdrv = YES

cdSpeed=2
resAUD=
resSFX=
resMAP=
rescdisc=
patchDir=PATCHES
movieDir=movies
robot=robot

My GOG version of GK2 has a Interlc sub folder. Copy those files to the patches folder and you're done.
Edit: noticed the I was capped.

Okay, I just noticed that the interlace patch is in fact working for everything but the prologue movie. All the other videos seem to be working.
I tried copying the files Besterp12 mentioned but that made no difference.
according to your RESOURCE.CFG, the only place that the game will look is in the PATCHES folder. If you want to use a interlc, folder, you will need to edit the RESOURCE.CFG. easier to just drop the patch in the PATCHES directory, overwriting the files there.
I reccomend it, too.
A recent reprint on DVD of the italian edition of this game, has the deinterlacing patch already applied.
Thanks for the tip! It's much better now.
oh wow, interlaced effect is gone, cheers guys :)
First time playing the game, enjoying it so far
Where do we find this patch? Is it already in the game folder?

I was wondering this myself. Did a Google and found the patch, but still somewhat confused about the GOG-version contra the CD-version. The patch was intended for the CD-version or am i wrong?
Edit: second language gremlin snuck in.

I'm excited to go through the game again, this time using the de-interlacing for better video quality!
