I would love to see a new Unlimited Adventures. The Gold Box Games were some of my favourite RPG’s back in the day and I think it would be great to have a newer version that doesn’t have all the limitations of the original. I’d recreate the Pools of Radiance campaign to show off the game. There are lots of improvements that could be made, such as different modules for Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance, Buck Rogers, etc.

If you could import the modules from the original that would be awesome, but even without it I think it would be great. Would anyone else like to see a new Unlimited Adventures, and if so what improvements would you like them to make?
Google Iceblink.

I did. No documentation (not even basic in-app help), no Linux version, no source, and what the hell is it doing on NeverWinter Valut? Also, would it have been so hard to just provide a link, instead of letting us guess what you meant?

In any case, in my view, the biggest obstacle to reimplementing the gold box D&D games is that they are D&D games. Any engine implementing the D&D rules or using D&D settings, creatures, or characters has to get a license. Your best bet then is to find an engine that is already licensed, and the only configurable ones I know of are Unlimited Adventures and then Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2. Obviously the gameplay is significantly different between them.

I don't know if you're still interested in this thread, more than two months later, but I seldom check the game specific forums and only saw your posts now ...

Do you know about about Dungeon Craft? It's actually much closer to Unlimited Adventures than Iceblink, in fact it started as a project to recreate UA for Windows and introduce more flexibility with regard to customization, easier importing of graphics etc. Sadly, it's just a hobby project and I think over 10 years in the making now. If you're interested in this project or have any suggestions on what to add or improve, the few but dedicated people over at the Unlimited Adventures and Dungeon Craft forums are very nice and I'm sure they would welcome your input and help you with any questions.

Also, I'm not sure but this quote of yours

There are lots of improvements that could be made, such as different modules for Forgotten Realms, Dragonlance, Buck Rogers, etc.
kind of sounds like you don't know about hacked modules yet? Just checking, because there actually are Dragonlance and Buck Rogers modules for the old UA, among others. But you're right in that they are few and to my knowledge even with hacks the engine doesn't fully allow to do everything the original Dragonlance or Buck Rogers engines allowed.

EDIT: I addressed the wrong poster at first, hopefully it's fixed now.

You probably should've replied to the OP, not my response to the extremely low-quality reply by PetrusOctavianus. Since most of your response (including the part where you say "this quote of yours", which isn't a quote of mine) is relevant only to the OP, I'll not comment on it.

Also, since I have nothing to say regarding the small part of your reply that was directly addressed to me that isn't the same thing I already said, but with more words, some of which are angry, I won't say anything further.

Oh, I thought you were the OP. I should have looked more closely, sorry! :/
Thanks for the info. I did discover Dungeon Craft recently but I haven't had a chance to look into it too much but this looks the most promising from what I've seen. I'll need to dive into those forums more and learn how that project is going.

For UA I've played many hacked modules but I don't like how the system handles this. In a sequel or remake I would allow the module creator to select the ruleset so that you could select Dragonlance, Buck Rogers, or create your own. Right now this is more complicated than it needs to be.
