I had just started playing Curse of the Azure Bonds before GOG implemented the cloud save update, and I discovered that the Gold Box Companion (GBC) wasn't finding any of my saved games created after the update. The problem appears to the a simple one - the location of the saved game files was moved from <game name>/SAVE to <game name>/cloud_saves/SAVE, and now GBC can't find them.

I don't see any way to specify the new saved file location in GBC, and I notified GBC's creator of the change, but for now the easiest workaround is this: every time you save and quit a Gold Box game, copy the <game name>/cloud_saves/SAVE folder up one level to <game name>/SAVE. That way GBC will find what it needs when you start playing next time. As long as you keep the contents of the two folders synced I think this will work.
Thank you. This post made my day.
Thank god someone else is also having this issue haha. Yeah I spent 1-2 hours trying to figure out what the fuck was up and this was the same conclusion I came to. Hopefully either GOG fixes this (no reason as to why the two save folders shouldn't be synced or w/e) or GBC does something to mitigate the issue. This shit's just really annoying lol. Cloud saves have done nothing but annoy the shit out of me for these games, but maybe someday I'll appreciate them if they ever do end up coming in handy lol.
I found deleting the mount line in the dosbox configuration file worked for me without a problem
I moved the files into a folder called Pool of Radiance\SAVE and I cannot connect with GBC. I then deleted one then both lines from the cfg file and the game simply crashes.

Any ideas for me to get GBC working with gog POR?

Disabling cloud saves in Galaxy should fix it (that worked for me at least).

You can do it on a game by game basis or for Galaxy as a whole.

To disable Cloud saves for a single game, find that game in your list and select settings (right click in the list on the left) and remove the checkmark in the Cloud saves setting under Overrid Features.

To do it for all games open the Galaxy settings (found in the menu from the small GOG logo at the top of the list) then go to the Features tab and remove the checkmark from Cloud saves.

Edit: You should probably verify/reinstall POR to make sure it can start up again.

Dang, that was the first thing I tried. Looks like it indeed stopped backing things up but it did not change the save location.

Try going into the dosbox_por_single.conf file and deleting the line (and only that line):

mount C "..\cloud_saves" -t overlay

That should almost certainly solve the issue.
So, I'm a tech moron.

Everything worked before whatever GOG did to Pool of Radiance, but I decided I wanted to play again, and now I can't get anything to work in GBC.

I copied my save game from Cloud Saves back to POOLRAD. I made sure GBC was pointing towards the correct save game file space.

I open PoolRad, open GBC, click "A" for my saved game, tell it to search, and get this.

- Trying previous base address $C331000...
- No ID match at previous address.
- Trying to solve base address by searching for 1st ID starting at $A358000...
- ERROR: Could not solve base address. 1st ID not found!
Try increasing the latter address range value and click search again.
Incompatible DOSBox / game version might cause this.
Click the READ TEST to see which memory locations can be read, if any.
Click HELP for more info.

Noting makes sense, and I'm old, and tired, and don't understand anything about this computer except where the power button is. :(

Help?

Try lowering the start address (the first number) to something like $1000000.

Thank you! That did it!
A new version of Gold Box Companion (v2.5) was released 3 July 2019 that claims to be compatible with GOG cloud saves. From the GBC site:

What's new in v2.50 (03-July-2019)
Support for cloud saves folders of the GOG-versions. There is a checkbox to check if you want to use them. If you configure the games with the "Setup GOG" button then it's set on in those games but can be disabled later if wanted. Note that GBC only sees saves from one folder while the game seems to see saves from both cloud folder and normal save folder.
"Setup GOG" button now also configures FRUA.
You no longer set the FRUA folder to a design subfolder but instead set it normally as the other games and then a design is selected from a dropdownlist.
"GOG Settings" button should now work again.
Lots of previously unknown effects identified (thanks to Null Null and others).
Pool of Radiance's "two-handed sword +1, +3 vs undead" effect description corrected.
Monster manuals for all games included in the Resources-folder but can also be launched from GBC's main window or from the homepage.

I believe I have a working solution I posted in another thread. Have a read over there and see if this solution works for you.
