I'm about to go down to level 7 in the original Eye of the Beholder and I'm just realised I no longer have the stone dagger portal key from level 2! I think I must have not realised it was particularly special at the time and have either thrown it at an enemy or left it on a pressure pad somewhere - it could be anywhere!
Is there some cheaty way to edit files or otherwise enter codes to re-gen lost items?
How much of an issue is not having this particular portal key going to be, going forward?
Thanks

The All-Seeing Eye automapper includes a character editor that you can use to add items to your inventory.

The stone portal key is convenient but not essential. It warps you from the portal room on Level 7 to the eastern part of Level 9. There is at least one trap you avoid by warping in this way, in addition to simple ease of movement, but the area is accessible even without the portal key.
Great, thanks, silly thing is I was already using All-seeing-eye, had no idea it had that feature though...
