KavazovAngel: Know what... it actually works the same way as GOG's downloader. ;)
Frankly, I've never used GoG's downloader. I always do direct downloads. Anyway, back on topic, taken from their FAQ:

mistermumbles: Can I download a game on one computer and install it on another one?

Yes, you can.

1) Copy the download file and the temp folder as they are located near each other
2) Paste on another computer that has connection to the internet
3) Run the download file and fill in the login/password if necessary
4) The installation process will start automatically, if the temporary folder is in place, since it will find the install files.

NOTE: Internet connection is required for performing the installation process. Installation cannot be made manually. It is done automatically and it requires internet connection to be performed properly.

Can I download the game on my office PC and install it on my home PC which does not have an internet connection?

No, you cannot. Internet connection is required to install games. If the target computer has slow download bandwidth, then the game can be downloaded on another computer and then transferred in any way to your original computer. There you can use them to install, but connection is needed to sign in and start the installation process.

NOTE: You should move the download file and the temporary Gamersgate folder (GamersGate temporary files) as they are placed near each other in order to install the downloaded games. Otherwise the downloader will start the download process again. Installation should be started using the download file, and it cannot be done manually from the temporary folder.
Notice the bolded parts. That is a form of DRM. One of the reasons I like GoG so much is because I can easily make backup copies of my games and install them whenever and wherever I want. In GG's case you'd still need to talk to their servers at least initially. The whole 'temporary file' thing sounds a little silly as well.

Unless their 'DRM-free' games don't have any of that malarky... it does say "if necessary". As said, I'm not familiar with GG.

Grrrr... :)

When the download completes and the installer starts, just copy paste the installation files in some folder and then you won't have to deal with anything GG related again. ;)
Again, another year has passed ... and no FlatOut2 on GOG ... :-(

I think you can get Flatout 2 on STEAM. Stay away from Flatout 3 though.

I don't use other game websites as I can't/don't want to use downloader/running dependend online software (I'm using Linux anyway). I love GOG because of the simple offline installation package. They also work great on Linux.

Then get it on GG. After you install it, just copy paste the installed files, and zip / rar / whatever them when you want to play in the future.

Nope, you need an internet connection:

No, you cannot. Internet connection is required to install games.[/i]

=> at least for installation, you need internet => no real offline installation => not really DRM free.

Yea, but after you install the game, just archive the installed files. The game doesn't add any registry keys or similar stuff, so it is quite portable.

You mean, after installation I can ZIP the installation directory, and unzip on another computer and it runs?

But I guess this does not work for all games of GamersGate, does it?

Yup. You won't be needing the installer, or internet connection.

It works for games that are DRM-free (with some you may also need to backup the related registry keys), and not so much about DRMed games. Basically, similar to how GOG works.
So, I registered on GamersGate, serached for FlatOut2 and found ... only the MAC Version!

Thanks! Downloaded and installed it. But it crashes when I try to start it:

Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x00000000 in 32-bit code (0x0044f4e3).

But I got it to run with a fresh WIne config and DirectX9 installation. Cool!

Is it possible to disable Ragdoll in FlatOut2 (just as it is possible in FlatOut)? I can't find a setting in the config screens.

Not sure, tbh. Glad you got the game working.
