Hi all,

We have put up new tar.gz archives of both Flatout games.

Changes:

- game won't disable compiz (Unity window manager) on start anymore
- added virtual desktop support (running game windowed), use -w or --wine-window option
- fixed settings not launching, use -c or --conf option
- game will work now with open source video drivers

If you were experiencing any issues with our previous tar.gz archives, please download the new ones. Their file names are:

gog_flatout_1.0.0.7.tar.gz

and

gog_flatout_2_1.0.0.3.tar.gz

Thanks and have a nice day :)

Thanks.

Why is the package called "Linux installer" now? It used to say tarball (which it is).

Has anyone tried both the old and new versions of the FlatOut series for Linux? Is there a major difference in compatibility?

I'm playing GOG's release of Flatout 2 in Wine (using PlayOnLinux) for a while, even before GOG rolled out Linux support. It works very well. All I needed to do there is to install dx9 (full one, d3dx9_36 alone wasn't enough apparently).

I've already downloaded the first iteration of the Linux versions of FlatOut 1 and 2 from GOG, but now they recently released new Linux versions for both. Together the download is pretty large; it's about 4 GB total. Is this newer version that much better than the first Linux versions?

I think the update is in the preconfigured Wine and surrounding scripts, not in the game itself. I'm using the Windows release installed in Wine (PlayOnLinux, with CSMT) and had no problems with it so far.

The game itself must be the same across both of them.

I'm experiencing something strange with the new version of FlatOut 1.
Using my Saitek P2600 the car is dragging strongly to the left which it didn't do in the previous version.

Jstest.gtk says that my joysticks are extremely accurate but nonetheless I have to set sensitivity so minimum and deadzone to maximum ingame to make it playable again.
Is anyone else experiencing this?

PS:Could you implement the widescreen mod in the next update or offer the modified user.reg (probably with link to the mod or the mod-files) as an external download? I'm sure people would like to not have to tinker with the files, although I finally managed to do it.

Hi,
Awesome FlatOut and FlatOut 2 running like a charm, but still only on Intel GPU. I have got optimus laptop hardware and i can't run the game with nvidia GPU.

primusrun ./start.sh

Doesn't work. The game start, but in the settings missing nvidia GPU to choose. I try to install the game

sudo ./start.sh --install

but icons still nowhere. :( I using Ubuntu 14.04. Here is lspci command:

If you are using a distro that is supported by us (Ubuntu 14.04 or Linux Mint 17) please send all that info to our Support department so we can see what we can do for you :)
Just my two cents, the fact that the game runs using Wine should be made more obvious, as someone that don't use it I'm a bit disappointed realizing this only after decompressing the files. Well considering how cheap both games were that's not such a big deal but I thought I'd give my opinion on this.

I seem to be having the same issue. I have both Intel and Nvidia GPU in my laptop running Lubuntu, but in the settings screen only the Intel GPU shows up.
Does anyone know what was updated in the latest versions of FlatOut 1 and 2? The changelog in the game shelf doesn't say anything.

I concur. Changelogs would be convenient on many games, actually...

Or maybe I'm just too distracted to find them...
A change-log would be nice since a person does not know whether they should waste their time and bandwith downloading an update which does not even concern their operating system. It would also be nice SINCE there are no change-logs to have the games in my library stay "marked" until I choose to unmark them after I've had a chance to read the change-log to see if I even need the update at all when and if it ever happens to appear.
Yes, changelog please. It happens way too often that it is omitted.
