Hey guys, I've searched around but can't find an explanation for what's happening here. I'm trying to play Firewatch on my old iMac and it's become super laggy right when I get to the first tower. The game was fine just after the intro but once I reached the tower, it became unplayable. I started the game on default high settings but after experiencing this lag, I changed everything to low with most options turned off completely, yet there is no visible difference.
I've been able to play games like Sims 4 on medium settings with no lag/stuttering and I'm pretty sure that my system exceeds the minimum recommended requirements for Firewatch. So I'm not sure what's going on. I don’t know if it matters but the main menu is super responsive however the pause menu is so slow that I can't move the mouse. Can anyone point me to a solution or explanation? Would it be a problem with the Mac or the game? Sorry if this has been posted before but I couldn't find it.
My specs are:
- 2012, 2.7 ghz i5
- 8 gb ram
- Nvidia geforce gt 640m
- 1tb hd
- High Sierra
Thanks in advance :)

Can you try the latest version of Firewatch? We've updated the game to version 1.07 and that should have some performance improvements for High Sierra :)
I have the same issue. The game itself appears to be running smoothly (graphics/sound), but the mouse is extremely laggy. In fact, while the game is running, the whole OS lags, even simple things like clicking in the menu bar are delayed. The only thing in the game that runs normally is the main menu. Switching from high to low graphics settings doesn't make much of a difference either.

This must be some sort of bug. The CPU is never utilized at more than 100 % (= 1/8 of my CPU). Dedicated GPU is in use, as it should be. Other games play fine on the system.

(2017 MBP 15", 16 GB RAM, Radeon 560, macOS 10.13.4)
I'm experiencing this "laggy" issue on my iMac also. Same thing happened, I didn't start having an issue early on in the game. I believe it started around the end of the first day. And like jdowellc said, It's only on Firewatch. I've played other games without a hitch. But when I play Firewatch it's like it affects the entire computer, every application slows down or lags.

I should note that I have the latest update at the time this was posted.

Here are my specs:

Mac (21.5-inch, Late 2013)

Processor 2.9 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 1024 MB

Thanks for any help that might be offered
