When I play Fez I get a black border even when it's obvious it should be full screen. I'm playing on a 16:10 monitor at 1440x900. Anyone else get this?
Yes, I have this problem, too. In 1680x1050 resolution. But I'm not so sure if this is on purpose. Because at the beginning, there was this simulated crash of the game and the effects were in the black boarder. So I think its not possible to make the game really full screen. Sorry for my bad english.

Not sure, but it's possible the game is limited to 16:9 resolutions. It was originally designed for consoles (i.e. HDTVs) after all.

So if you're playing on 16:10 you'll get black borders on the top and bottom.

I had considered that, but if that were the case I would expect black bars at the top and bottom, not a big thick black border!

Ah, I misunderstood. So you're seeing a black border all the way around? What resolution is the game running at? If it's smaller than your monitor's native resolution (this is possible because most games on Xbox 360 run at 1280x720), you can probably get it to fill the screen by changing your graphics card scaling options. In your graphics card control panel, look for something related to scaling and enable it. My personal favorite setting is "preserve aspect ratio", because older games that run in 4:3 will then scale to fill the vertical space on the screen but have black bars on the sides (as opposed to being stretched horizontally to fill the screen, which distorts the image).

If you've got the game set to run at your native res, then I'm not sure what could be wrong.

I'll probably start playing Fez myself tonight, so I can post back if I'm able to get it to go fullscreen.

Its an odd one, at 1600x900, which is definitely a 16:9 resolution(haha), it has a black border for me, but at 1920x1080 it is fine.

I think he just didn't program some of the resolutions correctly. No big deal for me since I can run it at 1920x1080 without performance drop but doesn't help other people.

Yeah I forgot to post back earlier, but I also had no problem getting fullscreen at 1920x1080. It also ran fullscreen at 1280x720. Does that work fullscreen for you? Because if not, your troubles at 1600x900 may be due to scaling settings, as I posted earlier. But I didn't try 1600x900 myself, so you could be right that some resolutions simply weren't coded properly..

I can also run it at 1280x720 without problems, which is what I am using at the moment.

I think 1600x900 isn't supported by some people. I have seen a lot of games where it isn't even a resolution you can select.

Oh well, at least the other 16:9 ones seem to work.
