I've just come accross a pretty annoying bug : right after getting myself a car at The Den, I decide going to Becky's place to barter a little.

Upon exiting the place, I save on my one and only slot, ride my new car and get a random encounter. There, Vic is missing. Surprised, I go back to Becky's to find him, and indeed, he is right in front of the pub.

And there is the catch: when talking to him, the only dialogue option is something like:

Vic : "Thank you ! I'm forever in your debt. What can I do to repay you?"

Answer 1 : "Tell me where Vault 13 is"

Answer 2 : "It was nothing. Good bye".

In other words, it is impossible for me to get him back in the party...

Any idea of how to fix this?

Well I'm playing Gog version + Killap's unofficial patch + High res patch + Sfall (all latest releases).

I never edited my saves.

The only cheesy thing I did was getting the power armor earlier than expected :3

Anywyay, I'm leaving Vic behind, and will probably return to kill him if I'm not able to retrieve him.

Regarding this bug, I was wondering if modifying some of the global variables could do the trick, or perhaps editing the saves in order to "force" Vic as a party member? Problem is I have no idea how to do such things...

I'm really surprised though ; this bug seems pretty darn rare, as I haven't found anything about it (but maybe I'm not searching for the appropriate terms).

Bubbo: I have the same problem. Can someone send me a solution to it?
