So I'm doing the Brotherhood quest, am halfway down the vault (have picked up the holotope) and I'm continuing down to the supercomputer (and whatever else may be down there).

For some reason, every time I get into the elevator that requires the Red Key, and select a floor... FalloutW.exe has stopped working.

I actually got down to the supercomputer once, and died. Having forgotten to save on that occasion, I'm now unable to proceed. Anyone else run into this?

The glow is optional and doesn't yield any long lasting benefits, so I'd just get the holotape and go back to the brotherhood.
Great, seems things are worse than I thought.

Tried to leave the glow as advised - the 1-3 elevator works fine, but as soon as I leave the top floor - crash!

So I'm stuck in here. Sigh.

Got some info on another forum which fixed this for me.

Apparently fallout saves every 'map' in the game seperately in your save file. If a saved map becomes corrupted, you can enter the map, but not leave.

So it seems I'd corrupted the map for Glow lvls 1-3 (which use one file). The forum suggested that using explosives in the Glow can cause this - I had in fact used grenades on the sleeping robots.

Had to 'roll back' to a save some 3 hours previous, but replaying the Glow without using explosives prevented the issue. Thank god I didn't have to start over!
Just wanted to share some further info I've discovered on this subject:

Problem seems to be caused by explosive grenades when they 'miss' and don't explode - usually because they've become stuck in an object. If you save when this happens, your save map will become corrupted, preventing you from leaving.

Problem only seems to occur in maps that use an elevator - the joined floors are all stored on one map, and this is where the problem lies. Places to be careful are: The Glow, Military Base and Cathedral - I've only visited the first, the others are based on other people's advice.

It is possible to sort of fix a corrupted save, but the best bet is to make a seperate savegame before entering one of the above locations, and go easy on the grenades.
That's the Glow for you, glad you could resolve it. I had problems with weapons glitching there, could never resolve it though unfortunately.
Thank you.
I've never run into these problems, but if I ever do, I now know why and what to do about it.
yeah fallout is pretty damn tricky

i had my saved game corrupted and i got pissed! i learned my lesson...SAVE OFTEN and EVERYWHERE....oh yeah more importantly, make multiple saves...in case one gets corrupted...lol
