Fallout is truly a classic. It is hard to describe why, I think to have to play it to understand.
Having not bought it when it first appeared, I approached Fallout with some scepticism. My only exposure was the somewhat disappointing Fallout 3 (WHY do Bethesda games always make you feel they could have done better?), and the rabid forums at NMA.
To say the game exceeded my expectations is an understatement. I have fallen in love with Fallout, grainy isometric 90's graphics and all. For me at least, it is the perfect CRPG. Maybe its the setting, maybe its Dogmeat, or the gameplay, or the setting and NPC's or the subtle humour, injokes and homages. Maybe its because they thrust you into the Wasteland with no tutorial. Maybe it's because one of my favourite SF book is "A Canticle For Leibowitz". Most likely it is the whole wonderful package.
I heartily reccomend you buy this game, I'm sure you'll find your own reasons to love it.
