I'm wondering who here plays with the high res patch? And what is your monitor's native resolution?

I'm trying to figure out what is a good playing resolution for F1&F2. It seems like when I input any "modern day" resolution, the game just becomes absolutely un playable. Everything becomes so small its just not a good experience...and when I say modern day resolution, I'm talking 1680x1050 and 1920x1200, that ball park

What does everybody play at these days for F1&F2?
I'm on a 1366x768 laptop screen but I find larger resolutions do make it too small, so I stick with 600x800.

so 800x600 and calling it a day huh?

i might just do that
I found it to be the best compromise, but of course, tastes differ. I encourage you to try a few more out and see what best suits you.
I play it on my tablet @960x600 as the native 1280x800 is too small on a 10" screen for this game.

On my relatively old 1280*1024 19" screen I also had to opt for 800*600, higher res gives tiny characters and interface...
thanks for the replies guys!

I know this isn't directly related on topic...but hopefully you guys can help

IS there anyway to quick exit out of town? I hate the fact that you have to go through all the sections of town just to exit.
LOL, also one more question

Is the bloody mess perk worth it? I know in Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas, it gets OLD very quick. Like seriously, and its hard to loot as well

How is it like with F1 and F2? I'm hoping its not as boring and somewhat more entertaining. Although people die pretty much the same way in F1 and F2, but I don't blame that since the technology to make these games are real old
Well, it's not a Perk in F1 and 2, so it's not up against AP-building or damage-increasing Perks, for example. Instead, it's up against other Traits, such as Good-Natured, Jinxed or Chem-Reliant.

oh yeah you're right, it is a trait

is it any different than getting it without bloody mess? or does it get played out like F3 and NV?
It does what it says on the tin, you'll always see people die the most violent way. You'll see a very limited set of animations EVERY time, which are gory for sure, but best served as a reward for massive damage and criticals.

It could also make it impossible to loot some corpses, as if two similar characters die the same way on the same hex, they'll occupy the same pixels on the screen, so you can only click on the topmost one. It's already a problem at times, but bloody mess certainly makes it worse.

There is only a slight change with that trait at one place in Fallout 1, but you can make it happen without it with a bit of imagination, just like I did. ;)

Edit: As for the main question of the thread: I'm running it on 1280x1024 on my 19" LCD, and I'm very happy about it.

Not sure if I'm only thinking of Fallout 2, but isn't it possible to engage the looting window, take what you like, then press a small arrow key under the corpses's image to reach other corpses on the same hex?

Don't tell me it was there the whole time. In that case, I completely missed that. It would have saved me a few minor annoyances over the years. ;)

Bloody mess is still useless though.
btw, if you choose NOT to get bloody mess, can you still get those animations, just less frequently? I"d rather have this instead of always seeing the same bloody animations over and over...its always nice to have a little variety

Yes, you still see them but with less frequency, usually seen with critical hits.
