It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

brocksmullet99: How do I take pictures, and where do they go? The print screen button doesn't seem to do anything. I Went into 7-zip tools and options, selected all for association, but it changed nothing in explorer. When I checked on the 7-zip settings, all the associated programs were unchecked.
They don't go to any folder, they get copied to the clipboard. You need to open Paint or some other image editing program and paste it in there, then save it.
Thanks Export. 1st pictures of the GoG Fallot folder, as seen through 7-zip. 2nd pictures of the same folder, through explorer.

brocksmullet99: My attempt to open Team X 1.2 patch:
You're trying to open the executable from the archive file. Drag and drop those files into the Fallout folder.
Or put the rar or zip file, whichever it is, into the Fallout directory, right click on it and select "Extract here". You should be asked for permission to overwrite various things - say yes, of course.
Still need to try a few things...should I reinstall Fallout outside program files at this point?

That's... weird. I've never seen that kind of behavior but I still suspect it's caused by UAC. I suspect that all those files you see using 7-zip are actually physically located in UAC "Virtual store" folder. To verify: Do you see .rar, .zip or other archives when they are located outside program files folder? Could you check your virtual store folder using windows exlorer (should be something like c:\users\user name\appdata\local\virtualstore\program files\GOG.com\Fallout) if the files are there (quick way to get appdata part is to go start menu, select run and type %appdata%.

If you could check the above first for future preference I would appreciate it. And I suggest that, in future, you install all your games outside program files folder (c:\games or something, I have d:\ drive exlusivly for games as I tend to install a lot) to avoid having to deal with UAC. O and the patches I pointed out should simply be extracted directly to Fallout folder (don't make subdirectories) and overwrite the existing files.
Yes, now that you mention it, my documents folder is full of various zip files. Can't seem to find the virtual store folder.

Think I should reinstall the game?
I already have Fallout 1, 2, and tactics as a bundle i bought from bestbuy for $20. It occurred to me that i might not have the latest version. Does gog sport a different or higher version of each of those games?

I'll have to check tomorrow where it is and how to access it on my laptop (my desktop has windows XP so no virtual store or UAC 'feature'). It's probably hidden. But I still strongly suspect it's caused by UAC.

Yes and, to avoid problems with UAC in future, install all your games outside program files (c:\games or something so Fallout would be located in c:\games\GOG.com\Fallout). And extract (don't try to run the exe's inside the arcives) the TeamX patches directly to the fallout folder and overwrite making sure to have 'preserve file path' chosen so all files go to correct folder(s).
There are in fact several quests where children are an important factor, (Den and Modoc in particular) In the unpatched version you would still be robbed by the invisible children, and some areas had disembodied dialogue. Fallout 2's development was rushed and quite a few quests were unfinished.

I strongly recommend the Fallout restoration patch, that fixes most if not all of the bugs and reinstates the original quests.

on another note

GOG always delivers the patched versions of games. Though with fallout I'd recommend you add another 3rd party patch.

Export: Not sure about in the original, but in Fallout 2 it's kind of funny how people were in a rush to return the children to the game. I get the arguments about how it's just annoying to censor such a thing, and that it's unrealistic to never see any children*, but all the little bastards do is running around erratically and steal your items. It would be cool if there were quests involving them**, or even a significant character that was a child.

* Though this is the case in pretty much every single WRPG and many more games besides - essentially most games where you can kill what you please

** It'd be pretty awesome if a thief character could take some orphans under his wing and train them to be a thieving group, Oliver Twist style

I am very optimistic.
Got to shady sands, saw a kid running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Good times. Thanks alot for everybody's help, especially you, Petrell. By the way, does the NPC patch work with 'fallup121rc3.7z'?

No, as the readme states, it requires unofficial patch v1.3.0 or higher to operate properly.
