I would be one of those who also won't recommend RP as your first try in FO2. Like said before there are few nasty surprises at the start that were not in vanilla, Kaga and difficult door at Vic house that wont fall just kicking it like all the others did, but if you feel you want to use RP and are not planning to play this more than once, they are not overly difficult to pass. There is no shame running from Kaga, (he runs away too when his toenail crack) and as for Vic door, pickpocketing town dru.. greeter or even better, there might be one child running in Klamath with a molotov in his/her pocket, surely that is WAY too dangerous for a child to have and you do everyone a favor by acquiring it for better use like busting down locked doors.

Please, give feedback in the development thread over at NMA. If a significant proportion of users think the restoration patch added non-canon elements not intended by the developers, such material can be shifted to the optional installer parts then.

I forgot about that guy. He was quite obnoxious, it was actually a good decision to leave him out of the final game.
The most interesting element of the RP is the EPA facility.

RantBusterCasey: ...is it best to play FO2 with the Restoration Project the first time or just the unmodded game?

UniversalWolf: As an old-time Fallout fan I'm inclined to say vanilla, but honestly it's going to depend on how much of a purist you consider yourself. The vanilla game is playable and enjoyable, yes. The Restoration Project, however, is really quite exceptional. killap (the author) has spent many years painstakingly researching the design docs (and communicating with the original developers) of Fallout and restoring cut content. Unless you're a purist, the RP is a solid choice. It's so good Interplay actually included it on their recent Fallout retail DVD versions.

A piece of advice: the RP will allow you to play Fallout 2 at much higher resolutions, but I wouldn't push it above 1024x768. Bigger than that and it changes the whole feel of the game. In fact, I would probably suggest 800x600.

Finally, I recommend you play Fallout 1 before you play Fallout 2.
To what extent did he communicate with the original developers? I'm really curious but i can't find out on google.

I can't answer that with an exact number, but I would say a significant amount.

If you really want to know you can ask him yourself. He posts on the Fallout General Modding forum over at No Mutants Allowed:
