Hi to everyone!
I take FO1 for free here in GOG.com, and i'm playing with this game right now...
So, i'm arrived in The Glow, but when i exit from this vault, i died!! (too much radiations...)
because this is my only save i tried to use a save/character editor for changing the radiations rate of my character... but nothing seems works...
I used FALCHE, that in Windows95 mode not find the save.dat file (even if i browse in Users/"User Nickname"/AppData/Local/VirtualStore/ProgramFiles/GOG.com/Fallout/DATA/SAVEGAME/SLOT01), instead, in MDOS mode, it seems to work (I can change each value i want) but when i run the game, the save data is exactly how was before (and so I died again...)
What i can do for not replaying from the beginning the entire game?
Thanks for who answer me, and sorry for my bad english ^^

You needn't designate the path as the save folder itself, just the Fallout one.
Try setting the location to
C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Fallout

That should work if you followed standard installation and are on Windows 7. However, you cannot directly alter your radiation level with FALCHE, but you can alter your rad resistance. That might help.

If it doesn't work and you have nothing ingame to combat the radiation, you can try using FallEd to change stimpacks to RadAway. Haven't used the program successfully myself though so can't offer much help with it.

first, thansk for your answer...
second: i have vista, and have 3 rad away... i think i can add more rad away but i don't understand how they works...
they cooldown my radiations by 25 each minute/30 seconds?

EDIT: Wow, it works now...
for others that such as me, have problem with these save data editors, check if is in administrator mode, it unlocks the writing tasks...

RadAway only removes the radiation - 75 rads total for each dose of RadAway you take (the effect is spread over some time). What you need is RadX, which increases your radiation resistance 50% for each dose you take.
Here's a strategy on dealing with the Glow: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/fallout_series/where_do_i_find_ammo_especially_10_mm_rounds/post8
What you should be doing before you got there is got some Rad X, what you need there is radiation resistance so your radiation level doesn't skyrocket while you're in there. You only need a small bit of rad away to take care of any leftover radiation as long as you use Rad X immediately when you get there.

However

"because this is my only save"

This is probably your biggest problem.

Rule of thumb, or the golden rule when playing any RPG, always have more than one save file. Use as many save slots as possible just in case you have to backtrack. At least 3 save slots will be adequate for Fallout games, but preferably you should use all of the slots just to be safe (and because save games on old PC games take literally no hard drive space compared to a memory card for older console games).

I can tell you that Falche works perfectly fine. I have used it on my Psychical version. Which I have for years. *Yes am old.* I have now tested it with the version from GOG.com and it works fine like always. I have never seen or had any issues with it corrupting saves or problems with the game.
The best editor you can use for Fallout 1 is F1se
http //teamx.ru/site_arc/utils/index html (put a . before the html)

Scroll down to (Saves) and download Fallout 1 Savegame Editor.
Careful with what you change it lets you edit things you shouldn't to keep a stable game.

Falche does what I need. Plus I know there is plenty of gear in the game ;)

You don't even need a savegame editor though, you just need some Rad X so you don't burn to a crisp with radiation. The Glow is entirely optional anyways.

Whatever the case to each his own. I think it would be far better to save your game in more than one slot than use an editor if/when you run into trouble. If something like that happened to me I would be frustrated but not at the game, cus it was my own fault for using only 1 save slot.

I completed this three times on all three difficulty settings without help when it came out in 97. The editior makes it more fun. Plus I have always used multi saves even when playing with out any help at all. Any gamer knows to do that.

I'm not talking about you specifically, I'm referring to the TC for only using one save slot.

Yeah guessed that. Should have made that a tad more clear when I posted. Tendancey to not see that at times. But yeah. Folk that do only use one save point do ask for trouble.
