My brother had gotten a copy of Wasteland, and he and I took turns having fun with that little title. Then in 1995, I'd played the demo to Fallout. I never really got sucked in by the demo (I was sick of turn-based games at the time), so I'd missed out on this title for a good long time. While I was deployed in Iraq, a friend of mine was stoked that he'd gotten ahold of a fresh copy of this game, and he talked me into giving the full game a try. I gave it another chance, in between real-life patrols, and started really getting into this game. There's a wealth of great story, and some really gritty fun nestled into this isometric, turn-based classic. If you haven't tried it, definitely give it a whirl. This series has grown to be one of my all-time faves.
Err, I stand corrected, looks like 1997, not 1995. And most importantly... SAVE OFTEN in deliberate stages! Nothing like being backed into a cave with a pack of deathclaws (or worse) with your pants down and not having a save game to step back to except one that was 4 or 5 levels ago. ;) Deliberate saves are your friend... or roll up a new char and start over ;)
