My problem is this: When I start a game, the music doesn't seem to start. I checked the settings and the music is at normal state yet no music happens. Any help with this?

Okay, it's helpful but I have Windows 7 64-bit operating system. So in my case there's only maps folder in the data folder from the directory.

Have you by any chance installed Restoration Project?
I remember having issues with sound/music after installing the mod.
But it's easy to fix.
The problem exists before I installed the mod
Just started playing F2 and have the same problem. The solution in the linked thread seems to be outdated since the music was in the "correct" location according to that thread, but I still don't hear it. I copied it into the "wrong" location just to have it in both places and it still doesn't work. Game runs flawlessly otherwise. I'm on XP and have the unofficial patch, high rez mod, and latest sfall - no restoration project. Any tips would be appreciated.

edit - NVM, fixed it myself by editing the fallout2.cfg and pointing it to a proper directory. For some reason the path info in the relevant lines was all garbled.

TK099: Where am I supposed to find fallout2.cfg?
I'm having the same issue, I have installed Fallout 2 and patched it with the unofficial patch, hi-res, and sfall, but have no music and don't seem to have a fallout2.cfg file. I have a win7 64-bit system.

Do a search in your Fallout 2 folder (which is inside your GOG.com program folder) look for the file fallout2.cfg.

To open the file Right click it > Edit > Open with Notepad.
If you installed to the Program Files folder, there's a good chance that the file will be in the AppData folder.

Try C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\ and see if it's in the Fallout folder there. Generally, setup files (and often savegames, too) will be saved into the Appdata folder instead of Program Files when you install a game. If you want everything saved in one place, save it to C:\Fallout or C:\Games or somesuch instead.
