UniversalWolf: Bethesda/Zenimax are not metaphysically evil, no. They're closer to being the Thomas Kinkade of games, which is plenty bad enough:

Comparison of the Month on GOG! :)
I don't really think Bethesda was ever a real fan of Fallout, but saw the potential of using more scifi themed versions of their own games with that franchise. I see it on steam, maybe as special incentives for Fallout 4 or some crap like that. Just love that its still on my gog shelf and don't have to buy their stuff, I love Elder Scrolls and I got New Vegas cuz its Obsidian but thats it for me
Strange that Bethesda has now all the rights for Fallout, and you can't purchase it anywhere, after all these months.

If you already own the game is it still usable?

Yes, if you own any of the GOG Fallout titles, they still show up in your library/digital shelf and can still be accessed and downloaded -- along with all those awesome extra GOG goodies.

Okay. Cause I had all three they offered and they still showed up lol.
Well, time to redownload all three and all of their goodies and back them up to DVD. Just in case. I trust GOG and all, but I'm also paranoid, so...

It might be good to get a flash drive and make a back up on that too. There are plenty of computers without disk drives now.

Amen to that. The Brotherhood of Steel approves of your thinking. :P

Huh? The games haven't been available to purchase for the past five months.

Yes, but purchasers till have access to the copy they purchased; probably a good idea to back those up onto physical media in case GOG has to take even the purchaser copies as well.

It's always good to have backups, in case something happens with the files, we never know, and better safe than sorry, but since GOG treats their digital titles as if they were physical copies, I don't think they'll remove access to the files from those who -- legally -- bought them. A few games have been removed from GOG's catalog, and they're still available to those who purchased them, the only reason I can think of a backup is if something happens to GOG itself (which can happen, obviously, albeit in a hopefully distant future).

For now, the classic Fallouts will remain in our accounts, and I don't think ZeniMax/Bethesda has the legal rights to ask GOG to remove the games entirely, they were sold during an agreement with a previous publisher, and the customers who bought them have nothing to do with whatever rights were sold or lost or whatever, so they should be entitled to access their games all the same.

I'm aware. I have all three here thanks to Interplay & GOG. My point was if one were paranoid they would have backed up the installers + extras before Interplay lost the rights and the games were pulled from sale. Not randomly five months after the fact.

To be honest, I only just realized that they had been pulled. :P I only really come here once a week to check the sales.
This threads a little old but I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything about the re-release. It's been a while since they where taken down and so far they aren't even back on steam nor have I heard anything about them in some time. If it's just to remove/change a logo why didn't they do it before interplay time to sell was up? that way the would have had it ready to go, not that it would take that long to change just a logo. I'm starting to wonder if their editing it, in other words censoring part of it. Don't know why they would for an old game but that's the only thing I can think of why it's taking so long. That their doing something major to it. Don't know , hope I'm wrong.
