Playing Fallout 2 and with 3 different companions with me currently I was just curious if there is an XP penalty in combat or anything of the sort when you have a lot of people with you on your travels.

as far as i know there is no experience penalty, the only "disadvantage" is that you can't do certain things with some companions (you can't be a slaver if you have sulik for example).

Aside from what Mau said there is no other disadvantages I can think of. In fact you can get access to some unique events by having some companions. Such as Vic in Vault city. I won't go into further detail about that though.

But no there is no experience penalty that I have ever noticed.
