I recently purchased Fallout from here and to my dismay it was the European censored version. Yes, I understand there is a patch for children but it isn't the same.

I just don't like the unoriginal "Hi" dialogue that's put in the child patch and who knows if the kid in the church at the Hub is still in? Probably another generic "Hi" encounter. If someone knows if certain scripted events involving children is intact with this mod (for both FO & FO2) let me know.

Now with that said is Fallout 2 here at GOG censored as well? I noticed the UK version cover art on the photo and unfortunately assume it is. Can someone let me know.

Apparently, it works something like this:
If the last and most updated version was American, it'll be the American version. If the last supported and updated version was European, there will be no kids.

As I understand it, this means that Fallout 1 is the European version, and Fallout 2 is not censored, since the European version of Fallout 1 got more official updates, but the latest updated version of Fallout 2 was American or something akin.

Anyway, hope that helps. My advice? Patch Fallout 1 to bring the kids back. It's an easy fix.

Yes, I'm aware of the patches but like I said - this effects events were kids (or a kid) is present, I'm not completely sure the patch fixes these situations. It adds kid npcs but little to no scripting like the original.

I understand what you're implying about the possibility of the Fallout 2 being the American version but I'm not going to purchase it unless I receive a sure shot answer.

Thanks anyway.
To my LIMITED knowledge (notice how I emphasize it being limited), Fallout 2 is not edited and has all the stuff, such as kids, drug references, and the like. Of course, I would still recommend getting the Killapp fan-patch for fixing bugs.

Both Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 European versions have children removed. In Fallout 1, it's done a little more elegantly than in Fallout 2, but there are separate patches that will fully restore both games to their original goodness.

In Fallout 2, it's particularly annoying because the children are still there, you just can't see them. In the Den, they'll still pick your pockets, and if they do, the only way to get your item back is to wait for them to sell your item to Flick, which is unreliable.

I don't have the GOG versions of either game, but it's irrelevant whether they're censored or not. The only censorship is completely fixed by the appropriate children patch.
Yes, but the question is if the GOG version of Fallout 2 is the European version, which I think it is not.
I have the GoG version of Fallout 2. I've seen children in Klamath and the Den.

Yeah, same here. I can't remember about Fallout 1, but Fallout 2 definitely had the kids in it. Actually, ignore me, I was using the KillApp patch.

Here's the best way to fix any issues you might have - find and use the best fan-made patches for both games. Seriously, it improves the experience so much - especially the high-res patches.
So far as i know the only censored version is Fallout 1. 2 is not censored.
Thanks for the replies. I'll purchase Fallout 2 here and hope everyone's memory serves them correctly. :)
Sorry i "necroed" this, but this question is still active to many, according google statistics

Answer is yes. Uncensored Fallout 1 had children in games, and, as far i do remember, fallout 2 tribeswoman were topless. In gog fallout 2 they wear bras. Therefore it must be censored version.

But it hardly matters, unless you want to be child killer or you like special pixels...you know what i mean :P

Are you sure about the topless bit?
I played the game countless times (UK, US and even the German version) and it never occured to me, that their tops should be missing. After a quick search on the internet the only thing I came up with, which touches the topic, is this one: http://www.rpgcodex.net/forums/index.php?threads/what-do-you-think-of-the-fallout-2-restoration-mod.67789/#post-1904017

And they certainly do wear a form of bra or bracer.

Was I just being ignorant all the time or did I really overlook those special pixels? :-)

The easiest way to check it (if i remember right)for Fallout 2 is to check the Ghost House and the Well at Modoc (the Jonny the"missing Kid"-Quest) at cencored versions you couldn't finish the Quest because the Kids where either missing...or you coulnd't interact with them.
Odd I never noticed that F1 is censored....I haven't played F2 yet though so can't say much on that game.
