shawnlee96: Will Fallout 4 be on GOG?
Very unlikely. Bethesda is the reason we don't have Fallout 1/2 and Tactics anymore in GOG.
And they seem to like DRM a lot.

squid830: Unless of course they're so incredibly stupid that they believe that having them on GOG will make them lose money somehow. Wait...

TPR: Bethesda WILL loose money if there will be no Fallout 4 on GOG.com - I will not buy it on Steam, sorry! And if I can't buy it I will not play it - such game doesn't exist for me. I did this for Mass Effect 3 and I will apply this rule for every game not DRM-Free.

I've bought Fo3 GoTY retail box. It doesn't need Internet connection to play. I've got FoNV retali box ("ordered" as Christmas gift) and it was very bad surprise when installer from DVD installed and started Steam service... and downloaded entire game again.

If developers/producers will not understand that here and there are paying customers who demands honest business they will not get our money. Not a single cent.
100% agree with your sentiments RE Steam.

Despite the fact that Steam's DRM is probably better than 99% of other DRM "solutions", I also refuse to buy anything which insists I connect to some site whenever I install it on a new PC.

Otherwise, when the world does eventually get destroyed and I want to install a game about the world being destroyed on my newly-looted PC, then I (ironically) will not be able to!
I am thankful I snagged them up before they were gone from GOG!

Its just like Bethesda to want DRM systems in the games they release. It was painfully obviously this was happening when Bethesda removed the series from GOG and brought it to steam.

Same here, feel very lucky now that I got them when I did...
Bethesda had a loooong history of adding DRM into their games, even from way back in DOS games, like Carmen San Diego, Terminator, etc, all of them had copyright protection schemes, be it a manual page, or a disc, or something else.

captainlemmiwink: I got them all for free :p

neener neener
GOG made a big deal about the games being removed and that they were free for weeks before it happened. It's not like we didnt get any notice.
Not to mention the classic Fallout games were on GOG since close to inception for almost half a decade.

At least everyone has access to them and its not like the limbo the games were in around the time van burren got canceled and Interplay went bust
Feeling lucky I got them before Interplay deal with GOG expired. And I also have my DVD collection with all three titles Interplay used to sell. They even bundled Restoration Project and Fixt, both versions of mods now hopelessly outdated, but still it's convenient. Hope mod creators got something out of the sales, but I doubt it.

I believe Bethesda is at fault for Fallout not being on GOG. Latter have surely reached to former the minute rights for these games transferred to them. Obviously Bethesda isn't interested. I suspect price being the issue. Bethesda overcharges their games. Morrowind is still 19.99 € for instance. Fallout is €9.99 and so on. If I remember correctly, Fallout was $5.99 here.

It's doubtful that giveaway has anything to do with it. Bethesda could be sore at Interplay, it was their game at the time, but not GOG. We all know it was Interplay giving the green light to do that, probably in order to stick it to Bethesda. :)
Bethesda insta DRM'ed the games and put them on steam :/ Luckily I grabbed a copy of them all just before they vanished.
I wonder when Bethesda got so into DRM? The original DVD version of Oblivion had no DRM if I remember right. No CD key or anything. But I'm pretty sure the expansions and Game of the Year edition all had keys.

To me it's more like Bethesda and Steam are a married couple, and selling games on GOG would indicate an affair.

Hahaha! Never looked at it that way. You're absolutely onto something there. :)

But now Bethesda is in the polygamy game with its own virtual store.

This is BS, Now I cannot buy it.
Funny story, I learned about the Fallout games removal the day after they stopped being given away.... I have impulsively checked this site once every day since. Still, I own them on DVD, so no loss except convenience.

What frustrates me about Bethesda's DRM ways is that they show very little interest in their own history and back-catalog. I picked up the (in)complete TES collection box set on heavy discount only to learn that they put almost no effort into Arena and Daggerfall. Arena is still the inferior floppy disk version they released for free years ago and both games utilize installers that do not even ask which directory to install to. They didn't even bother including all the minor dlc for Oblivion.

I already own both Redguard and Battlespire on disk, but it would be great if Beth rereleased those titles, or gave attention to any game they developed before Morrowind. Even Fallout 3 is a small compatibility nightmare on modern machines due to lack of support.

It is great that Beth is the most mod friendly AAA devs around, as long as the Nexus exists I have little to complain about. But it is still frustrating that Beth is sitting on a rather sizable back-catalog of older titles. They have little interest in their own history, and it shows.

Fallout, Fallout 2 and Tactics appear to be DRM free on Steam.
