Hey Roland,
first i just want to thank you for all your hard work on this project. I've been trying to get fallout 1 running on my nexus 7 for the last couple days to no avail. I've tried installing it with aDosBox(not dosBox turbo, it's a free dosbox) but it crashes when it tries to load the game. I might just need to buy dosbox turbo. Today I found your newer qemu method which seems like it should work for me, but i'm having trouble with the mouse. it boots up fine, and i can move the mouse even without touching the volume rocker. but i can't click on anything. if i tap 20 times i may get one click registered. it's pretty much impossible to double click like this. i tried using the volume rocker to click but that does nothing. I've read other people saying they've got it working on a nexus 7 so i don't want to give up yet. Any suggestions you have for my problem would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Hey, You're very welcome. I would like to see everyone playing Fallout on their Android devices, lets see if we can't get it going.

This is a very unusual problem considering I have also heard of several people successfully playing this on the Nexus 7. It sounds like you are using a different version of QEMU and not the one that comes in the package. You might want to start buy reinstalling the app. Be careful not to confuse it with other version of the program you may have downloaded. You aren't supposed to tap the screen for the mouse buttons with this version. If you want full touchscreen support buy the DosBox Turbo app. FYI adosbox is too slow for fallout but DosBox Turbo will handle it. You can also use a Bluetooth Keyboard or mouse to use for button support. Good luck getting it working, sounds like the easiest option would be to get DosBox Turbo.

Cheers
thanks for the advice. I did have a previous install of qemu. i uninstalled it but there may have been some residual files left behind. So i caved and bought dosbox turbo and in ten minutes it's running. thanks again.
just wondering how playable it is? Does the control scheme work well? Just want to know if it is comfortably playable using an android device.. I have a Note II. I've installed games on my Note that ran well but playing them was just too tedious to enjoy because of the control schemes...
Hey guys, I think it is my first post on the forums :)
I just got myself my first tablet, a rather "crappy" one, the acer Iconia B1.
I have never owned any android device before and I was wondering if you guys would know wether I could get fallout 1 to run on it on an acceptable speed.
I have only played through fallout 2 so far and since there is no other game that actually comes close to it (besides fallout: NV) I'd like to play through fallout 1 aswell, so why not do it while riding the bus or chilling on the couch? ;)

The game is very playable but your methods used to play the game will effect the experience. Dosbox Turbo has the best interface since its touch friendly. QEMU requires you to push the volume buttons to click the mouse. If you don't have volume buttons or they are located in a hard to reach place this could be a problem. Either way you can always attach a Bluetooth keyboard to get more control. I play it on my note 2 and its fine for me but I also have several devices I can connect if I want a better user experience.

Any dual core tablet or phone will be able to run Fallout1 at acceptable speeds. You will note that I have system requirements in the post. If you want to know what hardware you tablet or phone has simply Google search its name and specs. Here is your tablet http://www.gsmarena.com/acer_iconia_tab_b1_a71-5239.php

Posted this earlier today:
I should note that Dosbox Turbo has had many updates since I filmed this video and now has vastly improved audio/video quality. Me and the author have talked about the problems running fallout and you can now allocate more memory by default and select GPU acceleration in the settings. Lots of great improvements have been added and you can expect even better performance than is displayed in this video.

I will make a newer video for running fallout 1 & 2 with Dosbox turbo as soon as I finish making a video explaining how to play baldurs gate, planescape and Icewind dale. It should be done later this month.

Hey

It sounds like your device is having problems running the videos. Download my custom configs and add the one without video and ambient sound to the fallout folder on your device. Now try running the game again and see if you get past the load screen.
hi, i need a little assistance

i'm trying to get fallout 2 running. have the 1.02 patch and killap's unofficial f2 patch(used installer)
my device is HTC Desire HD
tried both v1 and v2 of QEMU
got this message when trying to run the game:
"This program requires Windows 95 with DirectX 3.0a or later or Windows NT version 4.0 with Service Pack 3 or greater"

any idea what i did wrong or what i can do to fix it? :)

Did you read this note about running Killaps restoration patch? Or are you using both Killaps patch and the 1.02 patch? You shouldn't need them both, one or the other. You might need to reinstall the game with killaps patch which contains the 1.02 patch.

*Note Use Version 2.0 if you wish to run Killaps restoration patch but remember you must manually remove the Sfall Ddraw files from your fallout install directory.

ok, now i feel stupid for missing that note, it works :) thx
Hello Fallout fans. Today I got a new Fallout launcher working with DosBox turbo. The Result is that you can play Fallout 1 and 2 on Android very stably with a fully touchscreen interface, on screen keyboard, Joystick and Bluetooth devices. I still have to finish tweaking and testing it but very soon I will make a new video about it. In addition many other X86 PC games will soon be playable on Android. So stay tuned to see the future of PC gaming on Android. Please Stand By!!

Here is the first screenshot ever taken of Fallout Tactics running on Android. Currently the cut scene videos crash the game but I was able to load and play the game.

Fallout 2 runs betters than I have ever seen on a mobile device and is much more stable than using QEMU.
Killaps Restoration project is also working with DosBox turbo.
