The highres-patcher for Fallout detects the GOG version as the TeamX version; can anybody enlighten me on what that means? Are the TeamX bug fixes already applied or is it just some weird coincidence? Did anybody unpack the datafiles and compare them to the unofficially patched ones yet?
I'd like to verify the quality of your claims, where/what is this high-res patcher?

It's been linked in these forums already, but here it is again:

Alright, I'm familiar with the patch, but how/where is it detected as the TeamX version?

Uhm, when you start f1_res_patcher.exe, the dialog box that opens reads "Fallout 1.2 TeamX version detected." I thought it'd be unlikely (still, not impossible ;-) for a fan patch to be included in an official release, hence the question.

Alright, I think I have an answer for you!
It seems that the highres patch is a universal patch for anyone with 1.2, but the creator assumed that they would be releasing it to english speaking peoples only, in the United States.
because the TeamX fallout patch, is actually a semi-official fanmade patch. In the United States, we only went up to 1.1 because we didn't need to have children removed from the game, other countries received a 1.2 patch to 'correct' this, in the GOG.com version of the game it is the european version (using the official 1.2 patch). So it would seem that the highres patch uses version number to attempt to detect whether you're using the TeamX patch or the 1.1 US patch (the readme says it's only compatible with the 1.1 US, the Polish/teamX 1.2 and the teamx1.2.
This Mod supports the US 1.1, Polish 1.2/TeamX and TeamX's English 1.2 versions of the "falloutw.exe". The TeamX version is the same EXE used in their fallout 1.3.3 patch. Some other versions will also work but will be recognized as one of the versions listed above. It was compiled with "Visual C++ 6.0 -sp6" and should work on most versions of Windows.

this link takes you to the teamx.ru website, where if you click on files, and then patchi, it will give you this:
Fallout of v.1.2 of patch (semi- Official)
The basic purpose of this [patcha] is introduction into the game of the corrections, accessible to the owners of [reliza] 1.2, but inaccessible to the owners of all other [relizov], since these corrections so were not released separate [patchem]. [Patch] is established on any version of the original, 1[S] and [Fargus], it contains all changes, [vnosimye] [patchem] of v.1.1 and does not require its preset.
Note: [patch] only for the win- version! This of patch is of for Windows of version of only!

your quoting system is broken gog.com

But of course, this is not hard facts, but quite a good educated guess. But if you're really curious, you could ask the submitter of the patch to NMA, Matt 'Mash' Wells.
But yes, my guess is that it's using the official European patch, and the highres mod thinks it's the TeamX patch.

Ah, very convincing theory, thank you. My irritation probably stemmed from the fact that there was no executable in the fallup13 archive, but the readme talk about the "semi-official" patch on their site. Thanks for clearing this up, now I got to hurry back into a nuclear wasteland :)
Edit: Thanks to that I realized they have repacked 1.3.4, for the obj_dude.msg was in the wrong directory :)

I do my best to help out around here, it's my hobby.. to me it's fun and rewarding.
So wait, you're saying the GOG.com version of Fallout is using the official 1.2 patch, meaning that children are removed from the game? Why would they use the European patch for everyone?

Because it's a world wide content distributor.

It wouldn't be that hard to detect region and offer a different file for those of us not in Europe.
Is there any way to mod/repatch the game to v1.1?
