It works, BUT you'll have mega issues getting it to work IF you have Intel integrated graphics. I could run FO:NV without problems, but could not get FO3 to work at all until I stumbled upon the reason: It was defaulting to the Intel card on my MB, so I had to force the game to use my nVidia card, then it worked.

I have played it on a laptop, a amd, an A12, R5 (Ryzen 5), works for me.

fallout vegas is alot glitchier, this runs alot more stable, or should I say did the last time i ran them.

was about to give fallout 3 another go myself.

It was the opposite for me.

Thanks for the info--better than I have found anywhere else! Sadly, all I have is the Intel integrated graphics, so I guess I'm screwed. I thought I could get away with running older programs on my laptop (because of faster processing and bigger RAM) but I wasn't aware of this other issue. Thanks for bringing me up to speed on this!

Wait!!! There is a mod that circumvents this problem. I need to run right now so no time to link you to it but there are several links in this subforum.

I installed it on my Lenovo Ideapad 320 and it ran fine without any modding at all, just base install files.

TO be fair, the GOG Store Page for Fallout 3 clearly states the game does not support Intel HD Chipsets.

The 'bypass Intel HD " mod seems to have a high failure rate, though.

It did not when I bought it, and I have a dedicated graphics card which I assumed would be used..

Well, this title is starting to show its age some, once you get up to level 30 it glitches even on a R5 now, i get a continual tone in the background and what i was doing when i hit level 30 never left my screen, so its telling me on screen to do something i already did. weird.

was fun while it lasted, still have tons to explore but the repetitive noise and all is no good.
I finally bought it on GOG after seeing it discounted heavily on another site.

It works almost like a charm for me.
It had one single issue that was strange. Mouse was completely stuck on launch. This was the second or the third start of the game.
Never did this since then, and I've been playing with it for the last 5 days. Got 12h in it.

The PC is an AMD FX8350 with an RX 470 running Windows 10 1809.

NO even after all the fixes and work it still crashes before you even start to play. Like with steam, the Bethesda lancer version and Microsoft store version it wont work, it will never work

I totally miss Fallout 3 too. I'm thinking about converting it to Tale of Two Wastelands, since new vegas works perfectly for me and it has a lot of updates regarding crashes. Also, better engine and new features. Won't exactly be vanilla Fallout 3 though, but it's better than CTD in the intro video!
