Q1: Is there a way to force a foot print path to show which way the characters will move?
Q2: Is there a way to change mouse speed?
Q3: Can the characters not even hop fences?
Q4: It comes as v1.27; is that what I want for first play, just vanilla?
Q5: Can I force turn based mode like in JA2 and FO1 and FO2? I have never like RTS.

Hey all, first post.
I bought Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics off GOG a few years back, and just finally finished 2. I haven't played FO 3 or NV yet and trying to avoid spoilers, and it's hard to search "fallout" anything without stepping in them. So that's why I am posting.

I'm a JA fan from way back...95 or 96 when the original Jagged came out. JA2 was an awesome game and I have played many of the mods for it, the last being just a few years back. The guys on bearpit were trying to completely overhaul the hit calculator to enhance "realism" when I last ran through it, but the bugs weren't worked out yet. Some of the guys over there put me onto fallout series which prompted me to buy them about 6 mo before GOG put them up for free. Anyway, enough background I guess.

This fallout tactics looks more like JA2 looks like it may be more like a JA2/Deadly Games hybrid than fallout2. So I may like it. I had a heck of time finishing both FO1 (bugs + I was only lvl 10 or 12 when I got "warped" to the end boss from the church) and FO2 Rest Proj (kinda broken quests I thought and then a CTD I kept getting after killing frank and stepping outside). While I eventually finished both and would like to replay those two, I'm looking forward to this FO:T in some ways. I actually really liked the first two, but I like turn based squad control and neither game really allowed that. Most fights were "hey look, let's pull over and fight these guys in the desert. Yeah, right there next to them, careful, don't run over there toes." There was no cover or concealment it seemed.

So FO:T should be a nice change but right off the bat after 3 tutorials with Tactics I am scratching my head. If someone could answer them so I don't have to google up spoilers, I'd appreciate it.

Q5: Yes, you can change it into turn based in the setting.
Q1: Since you like turn based, you know your path of moving on turn based.
Q4: Yes, until you find something you do not like and some mods might have solutions. P.S. Many of the perks in this game are bugged. Does not do what they claim to do on the tooltip. Check the link here http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_Tactics_perks
Q2. Not that I know of.
Q3. They can not.

Note, you can switch to turn based at any time, and I suggest you stay turn based almost always.
The exception being random encounters a bit later in the game, where it's just more convenient to do drive by shootings in real time.

Also.
Unlike Fallout 1 & 2,
- unarmed combat is not practical at all, melee weapons are so and so early on, worthless later.
- machine guns are real effective, best have one or two rather strong guys that focus on them.
- using cover and sneaking are rather essential.
- you get a lot of companion options, you can (and IMO should) dump most you're given at the start.
I played the first mission last night. I didn't figure out the ENTER key to force turn based so I used the continuous/real time. It played like C&C. Felt like I got shot up a whole lot but no one died except when they would run the wrong way around the cover, or if I left their offhand active. Then, they would just stand there and get shot up even though set to aggressive. The enemies did not seem to react to the sound of gunfire unless they were really close.

I'll play the next couple missions like this and then try it again in turn based I guess.
Follow up question: In turn based, can I disable the left click weapon reload? I keep wasting 2AP that way. R works fine, I don't need the left mouse button. I'm not seeing it in keys.cfg and I'm cringing that it is hard coded for left mouse.
