Fallout: Awaken

Need more Fallout, so trying this out. The install was a pain, but seems to be working now.

A few hours done and it's all a bit underwhelming so far. Sounds good enough, with being sent on a mission from a vault. All alone armed with a mere pistol and facing all horrors of wasteland. The weapons seem hella deadly, 10mm doing up to 30 damage, reasonable enough and something I'd expect to like.

But the first task "go there" took forever and ever with a random encounter for every map millimeter traveled. I'm mostly running away to save ammo. Found 2 settlements on the way, but both seem devoid of any "activity". Got a "find person" task, but couldn't see any way to do anything about it.

Reached the first destination, but the task seems completely impossible. :(
Maybe I'm supposed to fail, or supposed to grind a few levels worth with a spear.

Might need a bit of encouragement now, anyone?
Oh nevermind. I give up.

This is just bad scripting. Townpeople don't acknowledge you *at all* before something triggers and then they have something to say, then it's back to silent treatment.

Burning city, there's a woman who gives a quest to find her husband. I try to talk to everybody else, but no-one has anything to say.

Go to wastes, see a suspicious location. Sure enough, a cave with a dead guy in it, the missing husband. A few meters deeper into the cave and A FRIGGING Deathclaw attacks my 1st level character. Reload, reload, reload, reload, and at the 100th try I score a critical knocking the beast down and quickly kill it.

Back to town, the woman is depressed. And hey what! NOW another townsperson has something to say. He says I should kill the deathclaw!!! There's no way to indicate I already did it. No way to complete this anymore. They just didn't anticipate the possibility the player would kill the beast he's thrown into a cave with. Now does something else not trigger now? Is that another quest missed?

Not going to find out...
