I am confused. I purchased both fallout 3 and nv when released because I thought it was indicated that the loading scrren issue was fixed. But as of yesterday, here I have the infinite loading screen back again. So, gog, was it supposed to be fixed or is this basically the same game as steam in desperate need of mod fixes, in which case I don't see why I bought it again through gog since I already have it on steam?
Not sure. F:NV works fine for me.

How far did you go so far? Mine worked fine for a few days and then after helping goodsprings and primm, with about a dozen or so saves in between, the game started having the classic infinite loading screen I hated about the steam version.
It did not - infinite loading screen still happens occasionally when loading from the initial screen, at least for me. But the workaround (new game then load from there) works fine.

I put in a support request to get an answer on this, though it sounds a bit like its basically the same issue. Seriously, I would have thought they could have at least dealt with that one. Is there really any reason other than DRM to have bought this on gog instead of just modding up my steam version?

You wanted DRM Free game because you don't want to be Steam slave... ;-)

It's a bug that should be fixed by developer. You can manage with it by not using "quick load" and/or "continue latest" (or what it is in English). Use normal load save game function where you must point particular save game (even if it's latest). Especially if you just started the game. I minimized such thing like "infinite loading screen" with this simple trick.

Well, I never use the continue or quick load, I choose a specific save, and that is where my issue is happening.

"infinite loading screen" happens when you change location too. Sometimes happens even when you load a savegame using "Load". Can't avoid this bug using your tips, unfortunatly...
I'm just hoping that rather than trying to find workarounds and modding ad nauseam, gog will actually find a way to make this release right and patch it. After all, they are named "good old games", I would hope they can support this "good old" classic and make it work, as we should expect given the fact we paid for it.
This bug will never be fixed because it's a response to other bugs.
Even Skyrim occasionally does it.
GoG will not fix this bug, it requires changes in the engine which Gog can't make without risking breaking a lot more stuff.

It's a Bethesda game, if you played Oblivion, Skyrim or Fallout NV you will see many similarities and the same bugs, texture popup, infinite loading screens, clipping issues and literaly thousands of bugs fixed by modders.

So yeah, if you want to really enjoy this game you need at least a bugfix mod. NV is escpecially buggy and requires the stutter remover and NVAC to be playable for more than a few hours.

Funny , never had this problem with oblivion and skyrim even after thousands of hours playing. Only Fallout.
Yep, the support team member just told me this problem will not be fixed by gog. Suggested a mod. I just wish gog would be more clear about when their product is basically broken, and in need of diy fixes. I expect that from steam or origin, I held gog to a higher standard. till now.

That's unfair to GoG. There are thousands of bugs left in every TES and Fallout games which are fixed by modders. Then there are thousands of technical bugs which cannot be fixed by modders but only by Bethesda.

If you want to be mad at someone, direct it at Bethesda. You can't expcet GoG to spend thousands of hours decompiling binaries (which they probably aren't even allowed to do) and hopefully fix some obscure Gamebryo engine bug.

That's funny, I got this exact same bug when I was playing Skyrim Special Edition last month, and when playing Fallout 4 last year.

The reason you never got it in Oblivion though is because the equivalent is the game simply crashing during the load screen, at least on PC. I have actually gotten this bug on the 360 version of Oblivion.
